I'm majoring in math, and have been accepted to a few schools, but I've currently narrowed my decision down to these two schools. Is either one of these schools definitely better than the other? Or is my debate between the two justified??

Let me know what you guys think.. Thanks in advance!

I'm surprised you haven't received a reply... but your choice is likely to be one faced by lots of students falling in the top 6-10% of their graduating classes this year, so it's quite relevant.

The students at SLO test slightly better on average than those at UCSC... but the faculty and facilities at UCSC are superior as a whole.

Given that your major is math, I would pick the UC, by not a large margin. You cannot lose either way. UCSC is currently ranked #40 nationally by the NRC in the broad area of Physical Sciences/Math. In math specifically, #52, above the UCs at Davis, Riverside and Irvine.
