I'm a UC student wanting to take summer classes at my town's community college. I don't know how the process would work. Can I do that and how can I? Can I be registered at two colleges? My friends also plan on doing the same thing, but we don't have any idea of how it would work. If I can get registered at the community college, will my university only accept certain classes?

You need to talk with your advisor and the people in the office responsible for transferring academic credits about this one. Only people on the staff of your particular university will know the correct answer for your university.

I’m a student in two different community colleges. In both, I’ve met plenty of people from different universities, including UCs, taking CC classes to save money. I can only tell you that it’s possible, but I’m not familiar with the process.

I’m assuming that all you have to do is go to the community college and register, then after taking classes you bring your transcript to your registrar to have them transferred. You should ask someone at your UC to make sure.

By the way, most CCCs have designated UC-transferrable courses. This is mostly intended for transfer students, but this should also apply to UC students. If you’re looking for specific courses to take, then you’ll definitely have to make sure they’re transferrable. (If you’re taking general or intro-level classes, they should transfer from any college according to the transfer rep I asked.)
