I m goin to attend ucsb as a freshman htis upcoming fall. I d no what is my chance to transfer to ucla or uci under chemE. If i can keep up a 3.6 or 3.7 gpa, is it a bigger boost for me? and plus when i can apply coz i really wanna get out of sb asap? are there any measures that enhance my chance?

feel free to leave any kindly opinions i d really appreciate that

umm why do you want to get out of UCSB? All I know about transfering is that all UC's are required to reserve at least %95 of all available spots to transfers from California Community colleges so it might be kind of hard coming from another UC.

kingsian, why would you want to transfer out of ucsb if you are a chemE major? Chemical Engineering happens to be highly ranked at UCSB. THe Chem Eng deparment is ranked #10 according to USNews and Engineering is ranked #21 in the nation. UCI is ranked much lower in both at #40. UCLA is not ranked as high in Chemical Engineering and Engineering is ranked #15 there.

If you don't mind me asking, why have you already decided to leave UCSB? It seems strange that you've decided to transfer before even going to the school.

Anyway, I'd say with a 3.7 you have a shot at UCI but probably not UCLA. Like AggiesRule said, most transfer spots are reserved for CC students, so inter-UC transfers are very competitive.

You can look up previous UC-UC transfers at college confidential, from what I've read most of them were successful it's not as difficult as they make it seem.
