hellokitty2 - you wondered what major you were admitted into as your letter only mentioned College of Letters and Sciences. L&S considers all incoming freshmen as ‘undeclared’ - doesn’t matter what you put in the application. Each student has the flexibility to take the pre-requisite classes for majors that you believe you might adopt, but you generally wait for two years before you formally choose your major - a process called declaring the major - where the department hosting the major verifies that you met their requirements (for example having taken the minimum required classes for declaring that major), and then L&S records your major. Even when you have already declared, you can change your mind and declare a different major, assuming you meet those requirements. In addition, you can declare dual majors within L&S if you want to take on the additional load (or simultaneous degrees which means two majors but each from a different college at Cal).

Gahhh. I got into UCB college of engineering and was ecstatic. Then, I looked at myfinaid and saw that I would only get $3,500 from grants, and since I am an oos, the total cost of attendance for me is $54,000. There’s no way I am going to pay $50,000 when carleton college is offering me $33,000. I realize that UCB is a public school, and I am oos but still, only $3,500.

2030 SAT 3.5 gpa unweighted (as an out of stater) HOLLA

Except I’m trying to make my calnet ID but the website keeps telling me it isn’t following all of the requirements. I read them like a million times, and goddammit IT IS. I need to know my financial aid!

International (Malaysian studying in Singapore), able to pay

SAT 1: 2270
Sat IIs: Math II 800, World History 780
Decent ECs: 2nd place in a national competition, represented school at an international choral competition

I think my school grades killed me, ‘cuz the school I study at in Singapore is pretty tough when it comes to grades. They only looked prettier when it came to my A’ levels, which, of course, weren’t considered since they came out after decisions were made ^^

I know I’m late and everything but…
I GOT IN!!!
so happy!!!
Got into all of my UCs: UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, and UC Berkeley!!! Berkeley is my number one so far!!!

a passphrase is exactly what it sound likes. It’s a phrase used to access your account. It’s like a password, but it can have spaces, hence the term passphrase. Also, it can be one word as well, which is what I did.

you make the calnet id at that page (where it asks for it twice and you can check availability). If there’s no button that says "check availability, then you’re not on the right page. Like the website said, make sure your calnet id is something that you can live with for your 4 years at UCB since it can’t be changed and will become your e-mail as well(I think).
