UCB Class of 2015 Official Results Thread

This sounds like an extremely dumb question but I just don’t want to screw my calnet ID for life so I’m asking to make sure. When making your calnet ID can it not include your legal name in any shape or form because every time I enter my ID and request to create it, I get “Invalid Calnet ID Format.” Am I supposed to pick an ID completely different from my name?

I’m still in awe. My SAT sucks really bad. I did not know that one could be admitted with a 2000. But, I think my ECs and Essays really helped. Maybe even work experience. Congrats to all!

I was denied from both UCLA and UCSD, but accepted to College of L&S with a 1960 SAT, 740 and 650 SAT II, and 4.1 UC GPA. I honestly can’t believe it, I thought for sure I’d just end up choosing between UCSB and UCI. My guess is that me overcoming my heart condition was the reason for my acceptance, because I can’t think of any other possible explanation.

@ sphinx, spend your time at Cal well then pal, cheers.

@gold3n: yes.

If I had turned in my application, but Berkeley stated I was missing an English credit in high school, would that likely have hurt my chances or is it negligible?

@ golden It let me use my name just as long as the first letter wasn’t capitalized.

ACT 28

SATII: 640 USH 660 English Lit

AP Tests: English Lang, Chem, USH all 4. I’m currently taking 6 AP classes and 1st semester senior year got a 4.0

ECs: Average at best.

Work: I worked at a pet store and as an office assistant at a production company.
Hook: I’m low income and in my additional comments section and in the Berkeley supplement I talk about how I was the only one in my family with a job when both my parents were laid off and helped with the bills and whatnot. Also, I’ve had 3.83/4.0 all years expect sophomore year when my grades fell because I had to help out so much with the bills and working.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I’m soooo shocked. I’m an average applicant and below average for Berkeley. I am a very good student and my GPA doesn’t reflect it because of sophomore year issues when I had to help out my family with financial issues. Furthermore, I go to an arts school and so I’m very passionate about art and I made sure to really highlight that in my app. The “Augmented Review” really allowed me to talk about this in depth and that’s truly what I think helped. Also, I am an extremely strong writer and I’m sure that my essays helped solidify an acceptance. I’m true testament that you don’t need a 4.5 or 2300 to get into Berkeley. You just need to showcase your passions, talents, and what you overcame (if anything). Berkeley looks for a well rounded individual, not just numbers, because obviously I GOT IN OMG!

And finally, the most important question of all, were you on the CalNet ID directory before they took the names off (Yes or No): NO!

Seems like over half of CC users have some sort of “disability”

My D had applied to UCB with Bioengineering major; the acceptance lettter says that “You have been admitted to College of Engineering …” but it is not specified to which major she is admitted to. Does it mean that she got accepted into BioE ??

Accepted to the College of letters and science
