UCB financial aid package-whether to live on-campus or off-campus?

hello I will be a transferring student to UCB in Fall 2008. I've already got the financial aid notice that I'll be awarded 20974 out of estimated financial need 22250 because I choose to live OFF-CAMPUS. I appreciate this offer. However, I am thinking to change to live ON-CAMPUS. I want to know whether it's possible to make the change now and want to the the approximately aid I can get if live ON-CAMPUS. If possible, could anyone tells me the aid you get especially for live ON-CAMPUS. Thank you so much!!

Your aid package is based on a total Cost of Attendance that assumes off-campus (this based on what you put on your FAFSA). UCB estimates COA for off-campus undergrads at $22,160.

If you change and decide to live on campus, their estimate of total cost goes up to $26,586. So your need would go up by about $4,500, and your aid package would likely go up by a similar amount. No guarantee that the increase would be reflected by increased grants, though-- it could be loans or work study, or they might gap part of it.

Contact the UCB FinAid office and ask them how to proceed. I'd guess a FAFSA correction changing from off-campus to on-campus would do it.

Undergraduate Budgets 08-09

Thank you very much for your great response!!

Also, it really does cost more to live on campus, the dorms are stupid expensive, you may not net anything out of that, you may just pay more and get more, but have the same amount out of pocket.
