UCD vs. UCSB

Pick Davis! It’s political science program is far better than that of santa barbara’s, as well as most of it’s departments. Academic ranking wise, both schools are ranked the same in US by USN, but other country sources rank Davis far ahead in world rankings and in most of it’s majors. USN ranks Davis in the 20’s for political science; SB is like in the 50’s or 40’s.

Also, consider the finances. Since you live in the Bay Area, I would suggest Davis for that reason, because it will definetly cost less to go home. well, unless you really want to get away from your family.

While I guess I hold respect for SB and still think it is a great school, many people think less of it because of it’s reputation, so you might want to take that into mind. One of my friends is choosing between Irvine and SB, but she decided on irvine because she does not want the reputation of a wild party school over her, may it be or not be true (it did rank in the top 20 playboy party list though…lol)

From what I’ve heard from actual friends at Davis as well as hours of googling about student life there, it seems you can have a lot of fun at Davis. There are parties, but you have to find them. You won’t see them at every turn of the head, disturbing you studying and sleeping time, but you can definetly find many if you want.

Overall, if I were you, I would choose Davis for it’s academic prestige over SB in political science. But in the end you should visit both campus and see which one it right for you.

fmstyle is my best friend…and you know where he went?

Drum roll…UCLA!!!

All I wanted to say is do not under estimate UCSB. The reason UCD has more funding is because they have a larger student population. I am from the Bay area and I know tons of friends who go to UCD, and honestly I know it is a great school.

As far as UCSB’s reputation goes, I know how it is because I went to UCSB. I can garuntee you, I get more praises about UCSB than you think. Employers know how intelligent UCSB students are, and in fact when I interned over the summer my boss was telling me how the school produces kids with brains and a personality(not to mention the good looks). We work hard and we play hard. Cheers all.

Excuse me for misspelling Guarantee. English is my 3rd language. It is becoming harder for me to spell as I learn more languages.

He’s right, I went to UCLA. And yasunnyuf1947 is my homie. Can i get an Amen?

where did you think you could take graduate classes? I know you can sit in on some lectures if you ask the professor but i dont think you can actually take the course.
