UCF Provost Scholar Award vs. UF Honors

Bonafide> Community service is also part of the Honors program too right? I’m thinking about skipping LEADs and get involved in SGA. Or should I still try for LEAD?

Community service is only mandatory the first semester of your freshman year. The service we do is part of the Junior Achievement and AVID programs where we teach children (grades 1 - 5) small lessons a specified day each week. It’s a pretty rewarding experience.

Don’t drop LEAD. LEAD, if anything, can serve as your stepping stone to a position in SGA. Besides, SGA is a large organization - this isn’t your high school SGA we’re talking about - there are many ways to get involved on the “grassroots” level and still be involved in LEAD.

If you really want to do LEAD, do it. If not, then you do have other options.

Okay thanks for the advice! Any tips for applying? It’s not too late is it?

Well, it’s no secret, but apply ASAP (!!!) and take your essays seriously. Best of luck.

I’m in the same boat.

Although I plan on majoring solely in Engineering, still undecided which branch though. I also got into GTech, but the cost is a huge determent.

I’m looking into much of UCF’s programs, except EXCEL which DQued me because I only took the ACT (34 Composite) and not the SAT

I’m thinking if I use UCF’s locations and assets to my benefit I could go somewhere decent for my grad.

Yeah I’m starting to think the same way too. Don’t want to finalize things yet but it’s looking more like that too. Are you on the UCF Class of 2016 FB group? Good place to ask questions and get info too.

rhackle, I was in a similar situation myself.

I only applied to two schools, GTech and UCF, because I had a plan (which all students should prepare before they go to college; makes life a lot easier and less $$$).

I was accepted into both, but I could only afford GTech if I won the Presidential Scholarship. Obviously, I didn’t, and I don’t really look back or care; I didn’t want to prostitute my family’s financial well-being just because I wanted to go to a “good” school.

UCF has immense resources and connections, use them and you’ll do great. Join Honors, if possible. There’s no reason to be disappointed.

How long after you guys got your acceptance letter from UCF did you get a scholarship offer? I got accepted December 9th and am still waiting.

I got my scholarship on Dec. 6 but that was just checking online. I got accepted in early Nov. It seems that UCF scholarship notifications are pretty much delayed if you applied Nov. and after.

I applied in August and got accepted in October and I’m still waiting for my scholarship…

Got into UF but it offers nada in terms of moolah.

Congrats on your acceptances. Your focus and hard work is obviously paying off. You are in a better position than people who did not get accepted anywhere, even if UF didn’t offer $$.

Thank you and actually I am wrong about UF not offering money! I didn’t notice it before but UF offers 3 Presidential scholarships, highest offer being 10k… They don’t send out offers until the end of March. :O

Just thought I’d update this. xD I have chosen to go to UCF and I can’t wait to attend! :D

And other info:
I was rejected by EXCEL- but I decided not to pursue even if I did get in because I don’t want to take anything lower than Calc 2.

I got in and I’m going to be doing LEADS!

I will not be double majoring hehe. I will just be doing Computer Engineering and will look into possible minors (not accounting tho).
