UChicago Early Decision / Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

I believe someone mentioned earlier in this thread that they contacted them and apparently it was the same message from last year so that’s why they removed it.

Yeah, I can’t see it anymore.

Oh okay, for a second i thought that went to all the kids getting denied and deffered

What time do you guys think the decisions are coming out? Late Afternoon is usually 3-5 pm

Who still has the withdraw application button? My app is definitely getting rejected because I filled the whole thing out as a joke, especially my ‘pick a prompt’ essay, so if still having the button means anything I feel like it’s a rejection. Because my app was so bad it should be an automatic rejection––I’m dead serious.

Last four years it came out around 4pm, so I’m guessing in another hour or so.

I made a list of things I wanted to eat and what I thought they should taste like. Lava, liquid mercury, fiberglass insulation, etc. And then I gave my reasoning lol. It was just a funny thing I did for fun because I don’t really care if they accept me or not, they’ve rejected all the apps from my school in the past 5 years. 30+ apps.

Dam, I applied ED with a 4.04 GPA and no SAT so idkkkk lol

ED gives a huge boost though, you never know!

That…might be quirky enough to get by, who knows?

I wrote on the prompt about pie. Then wrote an essay about the sugar within the pie and connected it to Neuroscince my intended major. IDK if that is good enough

Haha I’ll have to update. My extracurriculars are pretty decent imo and my common app was fine, why UChicago I mentioned free speech (because of the Chicago Principles) so it definitely showed I did my research.

I do remember seeing something online though with the prompt where you had to add or delete a letter, and the dean or director of admissions (idk who it was, totally forget) said some people did [F]art History, and because they couldn’t resist the urge to do that there was a reason why they were not admitted. THAT is something I would do…just my sense of humor as a (perhaps immature) 17 year old. I guess mine wasn’t as inappropriate as that, it was just overly random. I’m not expecting to get in, just hoping for a deferral.

Well, damn. I wrote an essay about a sharpener.

Let’s be honest, most college applicants would rather do the (F)Art History prompt as a means of genuine humour than the ‘I’ll change the world, advanced intellect pop culture reference humour’ that they do reflect on essay (that is, if they choose to use humour at all).

did any of you guys like network or contact ur admissions officer in advance?

Nope.

Well I did one of the old prompts in the ‘choose one from our past prompts thing.’ It was take a person and mash their story into another timeline or something… Well I pushed Bezos into the First Triumvarate in place of Crassus…

That sounds so cool. I did a past prompt thing, but I invented a past for a present I got - a sharpener.

I hope the quirk gets you in bud…do they like look down when we go for the past prompts? Like you had like 6 options and still went beyond?

They don’t really much care about what the prompt is, so much so as how you say what you’ve chosen to say. Else they wouldn’t basically give us free reign to design whatever prompt we wanted.
