UChicago Econ Major

Shed some light for me about the major. How hard is it? Is it a good pipeline into finance jobs? I'm probably applying EA to UChicago next admission cycle and would likely major in econ if I matriculate. I'm a strong proponent of free-market econ and the history regarding Milton Friedman and the Nobel Laureates involved the school.

The the regular courses in the major are really not that hard, though they’re very math intensive. If you want a challenge you can take the honors courses which are pretty cool. I would say the caliber of the school puts you in a good position to get into finance even if the major will not particularly train you for a job in the field. You can definitely take finance classes at Booth (the business school) though.

bump any other suggestions?
