UChicago GPA/Workload

I've been reading a lot about typical GPAs and workload for uchicago students, but haven't really encountered a definitive answer on this questions. Many people have maintained that the workload is indeed what it is made out to be, while others seem to think that it is overblown.

Does anybody have any objective data on this subject (ie. avg. hours studying per night, average GPA)? Is your own anecdotal experiences on this matter similar to the expectations you had coming in? Does the GPA fluctuate wildly depending on the subject that you major in?

I realize there are already several threads on this matter, but I'd like to hear some fresh opinions on this matter. Also please mention your point of reference in terms of high school performance, because it's oftentimes hard to tell whether one's opinions are skewed simply because they themselves are just incredibly smart.

Bump, I realize this is a pretty common question, but I’d like to hear some people’s opinion on the subject.

Average GPAs depend pretty much on your major. If you look over the course catalog and look for the minimum GPA requirements for honors, you can see that they vary a lot. For biochemistry it’s 3.0, but for public policy I believe it’s 3.75 or so. It varies a lot.
