Which school should I attend?
I am interested in studying economics and am looking to pursue a job in private equity/investment banking. Also, I am interested in tech entrepreneurship. My gut says to go with Dartmouth, but I’m not sure.

Chicago is excellent for econ and all things quantitative. They churn out many of the top economists, strategists and quant type bankers.
I could not think of two disparate schools wrt college life.
Both are excellent in Econ. Go for fit, here.
Agree with bluebayou - one is rural New England, outdoorsy feel, and full of very intelligent and motivated students and faculty. The other is in urban Chicago, in the thick of the city energy, and full of very intelligent and motivated students and faculty.
Try to visit both if you can and trust your gut as to where you’d be more comfortable calling home for 4 years, and it should be an easy answer.
If you applied to Dartmouth ED, then are you not obligated to attend?
S’s final choice was between the same two schools. Everyone thought he was born for the U of C, but he chose D. There are things he gained from D that he probably wouldn’t have experienced at the U of C. Intellectually, I think the U of C might have been a better fit. But things work out, one way or another.
BTW, having been a grad student there, I would not describe the U of C as being “in the thick of the city energy.” B-)
OP, based on your post history, I’m gonna assume you ED’ed to Dartmouth and were admitted. This means you are required to attend. You can’t switch to go to UChicago even if you were admitted EA.
I think it is safer to assume that he applied ED and was deferred. I didn’t see a post talking about an ED acceptance.
@Consolation but dartmouth decisions only just came out 2 hours ago and he posted this 4 days ago. Unless they sent out likely letters but I don’t recall hearing about that.
Well regardless of whether he ed’ or not or ever applied at all, maybe the replies will help others. I know people who applied to and/or attended Chicago. and those who applied to and/or attended Dartmouth (far fewer). But I know of none who applied to both. Those who attend Chicago seem a lot more cerebral, thoughtful and if their interest is econ, it tends towards the theoretical. None of that is true for those I know interested in or attending Dartmouth.
chicago is more academic econ where dartmouth would better set you up for banking
@gormar099 Wishful thinking? Having fun thinking about hypotheticals?
Hello all, I have decided on attending Dartmouth since it is a better fit for me personally. Thanks for all the help.
You will love it. Good choice.
@simonbolivar great choice. Dartmouth definitely has a better social life, has the edge in terms of investment banking/PE etc (does very very well actually by any measure), and in general less nerdy.
