Just wondering what you guys would choose and why. Any feedback would be appreciated!
We dont know what you want, need, desire, look for, or etc.
You need to maintain a 3.8 GPA and get a 36 on your MCAT to guarantee admission to WashU’s med school under USPM.
With those stats, you’re almost guaranteed admission to some med school, if not the level of WashU’s.
Apply to both if you want and you think you have an extremely good resume to have a chance. These are very hard programs to get into (especially WashU med), and you might not get into both.
In addition as @PurpleTitan mentioned, even if you get into that program, you have to do so well that it kind of defeats the purpose of a straight med program. That said, if you are able to, WashU is one the best med schools in the nation, and even if you don’t end up staying for med, WashU is an amazing school for UG.
If you have your heart set on medicine, have you checked out other straight med programs such as Northwestern, BU, UCSD, Rice Baylor, Case Western, George Washington, Drexel, Miami?
I got into Chicago early and was just wondering if it was worth it to stay in the running for WashU med. I’ll probably wait and see, but I’m definitely leaning toward Chicago no matter what happens with WashU. Thanks for your input guys!

Tell me this isn’t another joke from WUSTL. C’mon.
@rjkofnovi, it does seem a bit ridiculous, though one person’s ridiculous parameters are another person’s shrewd marketing scheme. . .
Considering the level of the applicants who are accepted into uspm, a 3.8/36 is quite attainable. After the requird classes, you can take a lighter schedule to maintain that gpa. You can take the MCAT multiple times, and for students who get into uspm , with practice and several tries, a 36 is not at all daunting.
I know even with 3.8 and 36 from any other school, there is no guarantee for admission to WUSTL medical school. So, the USPM program is still a bargain from WUSTL, the best medical school in the US point of view.
Either way, Chicago or WUSTL it will be a cut throat situation to get that high of a GPA and SGPA.
“So, the USPM program is still a bargain from WUSTL, the best medical school in the US point of view.”
Huh?
What I said was that even you got 3.8 gpa and 36 mcat from any other school, you may still be rejected by WUSTL. So if you have guaranteed admission to WUSTL with that stat, if is still a better deal.
WashU is a MCAT score whore and they practically admit it.
they reap what they sow.
