Uci acceptance

Did we have to submit a document (e.g. letter of recommendation from a professor) along with our application to be considered as a candidate of Regent’s scholarship recipients? I guess this was the case for UCLA and I didn’t know about it, so just wondered if UCI took the same procedure.

Ok, so tonight HAS to be the night. They can’t keep us waiting THAT long between batches! At least one more batch has to go out!!! If it isn’t out tonight then it probably will not be released until Monday or Tuesday. Maybe they are falling in line with UCSB’s starting date (the 21st). Either way, let’s cross our fingers. 1:57 to go!!!

I’m hoping. I don’t know how much more sleep deprivation I can take.

Please!!!

Sorry, totally off topic, but…

@walleats You live in Riverside!? I grew up there. And I hate it. lol.

I have Bio lab tomorrow at 8 AM. I had Physics lab at 7AM today too so you can imagine how little sleep I had last night :(

people got notifications from UCI already?

Raymondloi
Mine says that tooooo! Idkk what it means thoughh…:/

@raacheeel as far as I can tell, only Regent’s Scholar/honors students have gotten their notifications so far. Most of us haven’t.

@melaniedear Yes I do live here! It’s not as bad anymore though. They’ve really cleaned the place up but I still really hate it. It’s too boring. Moreno Valley has now become ghetto though :/

@walleats Really? Moreno Valley was ghetto when I was a kid, then it became nicer than Riverside. My friends and I used to drive to the 24 hour Starbucks there at like 3 am. Riverside’s not a bad place; I just never found very much to do.

@melaniedear I grew up in Moreno Valley too before i moved to riverside and in my time it was nice but Riverside seemed a bit ghetto. But now it’s the reverse but you are totally correct! Very little to do here. It’s too suburban for my taste :/

This is why I kinda wanna be in a place like San Francisco! You must be so lucky :(

@walleats I love it here, but I miss the sun. I live ten blocks from the beach, but it’s never warm enough here to enjoy it. I also miss driving… parking is expensive and hard to come by up here, so I left my car in so Cal. Now I take the bus everywhere and get motion sickness. Haha. But other than that, yeah, it’s an amazing city. There’s always something going on.

@melaniedear: You probably miss the car experience because your mind is doing that thing where it tricks you into remembering all of the good things while forgetting all of the downsides. Sort of how people always like to remember “the good old days” even though segregation and discrimination was at its worst. I’m actually starting to hate driving such long distances to get anywhere especially since socal has such few good places and they’re all seperated by miles and miles :(

What school do you go to? Why’d you move up north?

@walleats Well, I went to community college in Fullerton and lived with friends for a few years, and that was fun (Orange County is just like Riverside with everything squished together and a lot more old people). Then my parents started having trouble with their mortgage on their house in Riverside, and my mom got a really good job up here, but my dad couldn’t move with her because they couldn’t sell the house, so I moved with her to keep her company and because it was a great excuse to move to a new place. Haha. It’s weird living with my mom again, but not having to pay rent in San Francisco is totally worth it.

Could March 18th be the day UC IRVINE finally posts some transfer decisions??
I’ve been waiting forever it seems like!
I applied with a 3.81 GPA, Philosophy major, and was a TAG applicant. and i still havent got anything. I’m so tired of waiting. March 18th, please be the day! Im so anxious cuz UCI is my 3rd choice after UCLA and USC.

Oh I’m so sorry things went bad but I’m glad it all turned out for the best in the end :)

Yeah, the OC in some ways might be even more boring than riverside but the weather and the beach make it worth it. Have you ever seen the show, the OC? How hard was it adjusting to San Francisco? You must really want to get into UC Berkeley and your chances are even better with the close proximity!

lol yeah, I’m reeeally hoping for Cal, but I won’t mind moving back to OC if that’s the way the wind blows me. I don’t know if my chances are much better because of proximity, though… I’ve only taken 19 units at the city college up here. I’m not complaining if it does help my chances, though. It has been pretty difficult for me to adjust, mostly because I was moving back in with my mom and I didn’t have any friends up here, and I was still dating a guy back home, but things got better once I (finally!) found a job.

I’ve never watched the OC actually, and I always wonder why… but from what I’ve heard it’s basically about Newport Beach, so none of the lame Northern Orange County kids (like me) could probably relate.

What school are you hoping for the most?

Your life seems SO much more fun than mine. I told myself, “you sorta screwed up high school, so you can leave time for dating and having lots of fun till after you transfer”. I didn’t follow the message completely but I still did pretty good while avoiding most fun things and now I’m hoping for UCSD. I REALLY wanted to go to UC Berkeley, but my final career choice makes UCSD the best choice for me! What major are you going for?

I really like that we are all in this together :)

But tonight is the last night I am staying up till 12 am…

I have a friend that works at UCI’s graduate admissions department and she said she would ask around how the undergrad office was doing their evaluations this year.

I post her information if she tells me anything !!
