Just heard from admissions that UC Irvine is over enrolled right now, they might not be able to finish MESA towers in time for Fall 2016, so they are using Arroyo Vista and the off-campus dorms to satisfy the population of incoming freshman.
I wouldn’t focus my mental health in getting accepted from the waitlist right now, but good luck to everyone!
If you guys have anything to update for the 2020 Waitlist decisions just keep us posted!
Oh shoot. I’m scared now. Does it mean they will accept less off the waitlist now because of over enrollment? As a person currently on waitlist I hope they accept more );
@happywadob you should be happy and thankful that you got into all the other schools you applied to. For some people, the college you SIR’d to is their dream college. You’ll be happy at whatever school you’ll end up at
@TaterCrisps obviously, if a school is over enrolled they wouldn’t pull alot or even any students from the waitlist. Just chill out and wait till uci sends you an email to check your portal.
So the SIR deadline for this wave of wait list people is May 11th. Does that mean May 11th at Midnight (tonight), or May 12th at Midnight (tomorrow night)?
@yuanbao It’s only may 11 chill out. UCI says they will release mid may which is next week. Last year a bunch of students heard back on the 23rd and some even last week of may.
I have a question regarding committing off the wait list:
The deadline to submit the SIR and Housing App was last night at midnight. I submitted my SIR around 10:00, but it was never “received” by UCI until this morning, meaning I wasn’t able to even start the housing app until then. How much of a problem will this be? It said they were extremely strict on the deadline and that I may not be guaranteed housing or something if it were not met (even though the “not received” problem was on their side). Thoughts?
@EnduranceArtist
You’ll probably have little trouble getting your guaranteed housing.
You’re less likely to get your first choice housing (not impossible of course)
Even if the problem was on their side, their argument would be you should’ve submitted your SIR earlier. It usually says somewhere to allow for processing time.
I have been following this thread for the past two weeks. I am a parent and my daughter is on the wait list for BME program at UCI. She really wants to join UCI but we haven’t heard anything yet. I called up the admissions office last week after reading comments on this forum, this is what they told me.
Emails to waitlist students in CA will go out mid May
There is no over enrollment this year
BTW, my daughter got off the wait list at UCSB for Pre-Bio and she had already received acceptance into the BioEng program at UCSC.
