@lovey8888 yes, I agree that getting into usc may actually be easier than some of the UC’s. I like how friendly their staff are and how they ACTUALLY REVIEW STUDENT’s WHOLE APPLICATION. on the other hand, the UC’s seem to care more about the gpa and sat. I know this because my school has naviance and everyone who got into UCSC, UCD, UCSD, etc were all on the upper right corner of the scattergram (symbolizes high gpa and sat). I honesty don’t know why the UC’s are getting the hype. Is it because people want to stick around in CA or because they do little research when applying to school?
@flurryhear I completely agree!!
My portal updated
The next wave!!
I got an email but im not in the mood to check LOL GL EVERYONE
@CindyLeuWho good luck to you!! the emails are so random
hi guys!!! i got rejected from uci!! but i want to give out my stats lol
i’m in-state! (socal)
gpa: 4.1
uw: 3.8
sat: 1070
i had a ton of extracurriculars… did band and marched the rose parade jan 1 (rancho verde crimson regiment haha), i did winter guard, winter drumline, i did an internship over summer 2019 at the moreno valley city hall… stuff like that!
acceptances: csuf, csusm, uc davis, uc riverside, and uc san diego
waitlists: none
rejections: uci, sdsu, and csulb
soo yeah! idk my stats are pretty low but i managed to get into my first choice (ucsd), maybe with the help of my insight questions? kinda mad at uci though because it really had me refreshing the page for a couple days just to get a rejection !!
My friend just got rejected meaning I most likely will too. Any acceptances today?
@softyvanilla which major?
@CindyLeuWho there were around 3-4 on reddit and here !
my majors for the UCs were all biology/biological sciences/human bio, and then for the cal states was nursing! i got ‘booted’ for the nursing programs for both csuf and csusm but got accepted for my alternative (psychology). i also applied to uci for nursing, but obviously didn’t get it
@softyvanilla at least you got accepted to UCD and UCSD. I was rejected from both and had decent stats and great extracurricular.
What’s the difference between a repeal and waitlist? Does this mean a waitlist is first in line if there’s room or does a repeal have a good chance too?
@Gumbymom: I was wondering if you had any insight into whether completing the UCI scholarship form that was due back in January would have any effect on the admissions decision. My son was unable to complete the scholarship form before the deadline and was rejected today. He has pretty decent stats (in our opinion :)) with a 1490 SAT, 4.27 UC Capped GPA, 790 Math 2 SAT Subject Test, 730 Physics SAT Subject Test.
Since you had mentioned in an earlier thread that UCI first admits into the university and then by major, we were thinking he would at least get into the university if not his first major which is Mechanical Engineering.
Just curious if UCI would consider that the applicant is not interested because they didn’t fill out the scholarship application and use that as a factor in their admission decision.
I only had a 3.3 gpa WEIGHTED and a 1100 sat but I got into sdsu, smu, and Emerson all which have way higher stat averages than what I had! I definitely think the essays are a big factor into acceptance as I believe that’s how I got into those schools
Denied: Uci , UCSB, UCLA
D was rejected for Art.
gpa: 4.14
SAT: 1320
Accepted: SJSU, CSULB, CSUF, Chapman
Denied: CalArts, UCI
Headed to Chapman (Animation)
@lovely8888 that can’t be true because sdsu only looks at your gpa and sat. Are you out of state, because states accept lower stats from out of state students, they want the out of state tuition.
Sorry i meant to tag @lovey8888 ^
yes I’m out of state! That’s what I figured, I was really shocked that I got in but I had really good email convos with my admissions counselor which I think helped show demonstrated interest, as for the other schools, I definitely think my essay got in as southern Methodist stats are extremely high
@lovey8888 do you mean emailing the admission counselors at Uci because I emailed them about my sat question but they never responded
@clof2024 I did the scholarship, but got denied. UC’s are very strange when it comes to admissions.
