uci or ucsb for transfer (2015)? philosophy major planning on law school (hopefully ucla law)

I am comfortably living with my parents in oc, going to saddleback. I'm happy but my social life is small and I have heard that uci does not have much of a social life either. I dont expect to go to university for the sake of socializing, but it would be nice to have that option. I dont enjoy over drinking so I will easily avoid the hardcore party scene in all schools. Kind of want to get out of the oc bubble and explore. And I surf so I know i'd love the crowd there. I've sped thru 2 years of school in 1 year and fear that I could be missing out on the one time in life I could really be in a "fun" environment. Also love the ethics and public policy philosophy major! Though it seems more difficult to get into their philosophy program.
Double edged sword -- does the laidback/party stereotype of santa Barbara, mean that it is a bad place for a future lawyer? As in not a lot of opportunities to find work/internships?
I will be taking the paralegal certificate course at UCI extension after getting my associates this summer (fall at the latest), so I will get some internship experience there.

I know lawyers who went to Stanford Law school and to Harvard Law school who were UCSB graduates. Since my son wants to be a lawyer, I looked at the list of schools from which Harvard Law had accepted applicants last year, and UCSB is on it. But you will need the grades and LSAT scores. UCSB will only be a problem if you don’t have discipline to do what you have to do when you have to do it – and if you don’t have discipline of that sort, law is going to be problematic, period.

I went to UCSB, and it is great. My niece went recently, and she loved it. And the surfing spot there is called ‘campus point’ which should let you know where it is. (It is not Waimea, but it couldn’t be more convenient.) That close, you can go in the evening after, or morning before class, and still fulfill your responsibilities. The guy I know who went to Harvard Law from there lived on DP and built his own surfboard there - and used it.

You should apply to more than one place, however, and you can make the decision after visiting both.
