@CCstinace Ahhhh that makes sense, I was just thinking in terms of philosophy without adding something like law to it. I’m hoping to get into criminology because I want to work for the FBI its always been a dream for me to work in a field like that (went from police officer to fbi at middle school) but im worried i wont get in with a 3.3, I’m hoping that since i did all the Recommended pre reqs (so not really pre reqs but literally all of them) which most people prolly didnt which in addition happened to get me a AA in psych will look good. (which with ap test credit also finished an Igetc) and the .7 gpa i missed was two classes i got cs in (rest A’s) and they were during senior year and that summer.

On a side side im really scared that when i submitted the application is was like “hey are you sure this is less than 60 units here” which is true but i have about 16 units coming from my AP tests in high school (5 that were 3 or higher) so idk if they still see i have a total of 60+ with those or if they will be like oh doesnt have 60 units denied.

Yes this is true. A friend of mine who transferred then graduated from Berkeley with a ba in philosophy mentioned that many of his classmates continued onto many of the elite law schools in the country. He said it was one of the top majors to be accepted into law school because of its benefit of thoroughly understanding language and it’s different possible interpretations (which is what law school essentially is), thus philosophy students generally do very well. However, he did not choose to go to law school and I met him through a minimum wage job where we worked as equals (I was a recent high school graduate) and he was 30. Of course this is just one story of the thousands (doesn’t mean all philosophy majors turn out this way), but just wanted to share a possible reality.

thought so!! I haven’t taken many philo. courses. just phil 101 lol. And then all the other pre-req courses. Most law school applicants are poli sci majors, but it helps (along with many other aspects) if your major is something unique. @lbtocth

Lol. Yeah well the site still hadn’t been updated since April 1st so I think it’s safe to say nobody has heard back Hopefully tomorrow we’ll hear back since its the end of the week? :P

@speakbraille I’m not going to lie though… I looked into last years threads and I was examining the dates. Most people started getting responses on the 5th, with VERY small numbers on the 4th. Just that he/she got “caught” with his/her previous posts. ;P

BTW, I must mention to all is that most responses were held on the 23rd of April. (Based on last years threads) And from what I saw, most of them (not all), were Psychology and PSB majors. With that being said, the other majors were scattered within that week of April. But yes, a few did get responses on the 5th… I’m going to assume that was the first “batch”

I’m just giving this info. out just so we don’t become so anxious and too worried that we didn’t hear anything yet when others may have (I mean, its barely the 5th day of April… be ****ing realistic here) It’ll at least give us an estimate as to when we “should” be hearing from them.

@lbtocth - I tagged with UCI last october thinking I would be able to complete the required classes this spring, but I was unable to squeeze them all in. So I assume my Tag agreement is now void. The counselor told me I would be viewed as a normal applicant.

Yep the site still isn’t updated since the 1st -_- I just want to know asap (like everyone else lol) because I wanna do the housing app already. I wanna make sure I can get the housing I want :P

@youseehopefully
If I end up going to UCI, I will most likely live at home since I only live about 20-30 minutes away. I would like to live on campus, but since my parents are nice enough to help me pay for college, it would be the right thing to save them some money

I’m planning to get an apartment neat there in order to avoid traffic and commuting. My parents have been pretty protective of Mr and I’d really like this opportunity to assert my independence.
