@ChemSRCT @Hopefulkid323 transfer decisions have until the 30th to be posted.

For all the people who have been waitlisted, there’s hope. Many people have gotten accepted to UCLA, and are surprised. Seems like UCLA was very generous this year, and therefore many who got accepted from UCI will most likely SIR to UCLA, which opens up much space for us waitlisters. Just got to wait now.

@Hopey11 Do you mind telling me your stats such as GPA, etc.? Thank you.

@drew26 UCLA barely had there decision roll out? Or was it more of an overall they were generous this year?

Side note, your best guess when should waitlisted students start hearing anything?

^^^I THINK waitlisted people start hearing back after June 1 when the SIRs are due.

@2016Candles that was my best guess but I was hoping for sooner… I tired of waiting haha

Can anybody give us an idea of how UCI is like?

It’s my last UC choice school and I already got rejected from others, waiting for UCSB but if I didn’t make it there I might have to end up here

I want a vibrant university where I can have fun beside studying, UCSB and UCLA would have been perfect for this but what about UCI? Seems like everyone says its a more of a serious vibe there and I’m afraid it will be a boring 2 years for me

@Harren

It’s a quiet university in a very safe area. It’s only going to be boring if you don’t get involved. If you are going to UCI, I suggest you take your car or it will be awful trying to find something to do over the weekend since a lot of things can be far away.

@ocnative
What are some things to do around UCI? I have never been to OC, and are we talking about few minutes driving or hours to find something to do on weekends?

@Harren
You’re pretty much limited to the Irvine Spectrum and the beach. South OC is a very boring area.

The good thing about UCI is that LA is about 45 minutes away and SD an hour and 15 min. By car, of course. UCI is a very peaceful and quiet campus, nothing like the “vibrancy” and ruckus of UCSB so don’t expect stuff like Deltopia to happen there.

@Harren I was born and raised in South OC. The beaches are nice, the people are kind of tools, and there isn’t a huge party scene. There are nice hiking trails and some cools places to chill, but generally it’s pretty mellow and slow paced. It’s not somewhere that you come to party. Campus is 45 minutes from Downtown LA, 15 minutes from the beach, 2 hours from the mountains/snow, and 2 hours from the desert. There’s a lot to do, but not a whole lot in the immediate area aside from bars, movies, restaurants, and shopping.

whats oc?

OC = Orange County

Why do people refer to Orange County as The OC? That literally translates to The Orange County. It sounds really weird.

@CollegeDropout1 Lol I don’t know anybody that says The OC and I’ve lived here all my life.

@Harren
Pretty much what the comments above have posted. I agree that you should stay away from South OC, it’s so boring. You have a lot of shopping centers, Disneyland, beaches, restaurants, and hiking trails near by. A lot of stuff is mostly 15-20 minutes away.

@ocnative I met several people from Orange County, and they have referred to it as The OC. It is not just people from Orange County, it is everyone.

@CollegeDropout1 I have lived here my whole life as well. I only call it the OC when I am talking to people that aren’t from here. I just assume they probably know of it from the show.

@justadude91cs But don’t you think it sounds stupid? The Orange County? You wouldn’t say that, now would you/

@CollegeDropout1 I think many things sound stupid, including things I say. I never said I liked it, just that peoplek knew what it means.

@Harren I personally love the area. You are down the street from Newport Beach. Plenty of things to do like Irvine Spectrum, Disneyland, Gardenwalk, Trails, Mountains, bars, restaurants. LA isn’t completely forever away. Idk what kind of stuff you are into doing but you will be able to find plenty. As for the town/university, everyone is right. It’s very safe and clean. I personally love UCI just because of the way it’s laid out and some of the buildings. And most importantly, get involved. The experience there is directly associated with who you know and what you do. I have had a few friends graduate from there and they loved it because of the friends they made.
