I am not sure! :(

@moniiique from what I heard they’ll check towards the end how many spaces are available in each major and then go to the waitlist to fill them up. If I’m the only on in my major waitlisted and someone doesn’t accept then I have a good chance of being accepted. It does matter gpa and application if I’m competing with others in my major on the waitlist.

Are there any other Urban Studies majors here? Because I’m having a really hard time choosing between the programs at UCI and UCSD at the moment. I know UCI’s planning department is accredited, but SD’s seems to offer more hands-on experience from what I can tell. Besides that, I’m an LA resident and am not too keen on the idea of moving to a place as suburban as Irvine. However, Irvine is much closer to Los Angeles, which I definitely prefer over San Diego. I was thinking that if I went to Irvine, living somewhere in between the two (like Long Beach) might be feasible?? I have no idea what the better option is. ~X(

@Winteredrose5162 thanks for the reply! So hypothetically if there are 10 spots in the psychology department and 5 waitlisters… they should all get in? I know most answers are merely speculation but I would hate to have my waitlist spot and then they go based on GPA and such from there, rather than the first come first served idea… because then I probably should not have gotten a waitlist space lol.

Probably depends on if the admitted students in the major/department SIR or not.

@mental2 , I am guessing you are choosing to be a gaucho?

@ccnube , yep just submitted my SIR. How about you, where you heading this fall?

@mental2 , I was accepted to UCLA and UCI , I am currently unsure, but I think I would feel less out of place at UCI

@ccnube Nice! Yeah, I would have a hard time also. Most would choose UCLA over UCI in a heart beat but it would definitely take some time for me to decide. Had a few friends and siblings who have transferred from UCLA to UCI with no regrets. Really love UCI, can’t go wrong with either one. Do you currently live around Irvine?

@CollegedadUCI87 Thank you, sir!

@mental2 , why did your friends transfer from UCLA??? Did they not fit in or something? Majors? I don’t live near Irvine, with traffic it would take me about 2 hours to get there probably…not sure

He transferred to UCI so he could rent an apartment with one of his siblings and friend who goes to UCI. He said he had no problem with UCLA, but he did enjoy the chill atmosphere at UCI and Orange County a lot more. He was an Aerospace engineer major, graduated last year and was hired right after graduating.

Have you visited UCI yet? I really love the area and it is just a 5 minute drive to my favorite beach which is usually quiet.

So how many total spaces does UCI have?

For transfers that is…

Anybody going to Discover UCI for transfers?

@vmladie03 , I had no idea there was a discover day…are you guys bringing family? Bruin day is the 10th…driving for both seems a little crazy for me, but maybe I should do it…I feel like it would just make me feel worse for choosing UCI though (which I am pretty sure I will do) … @mental2 , thanks for the info! I like chill places…it is necessary for my sanity. Ahhhh, The UCLA packet is guilt tripping me!

I saw it when I logged into the portal under upcoming events. Its on May 9th and they are taking reservations. I will most likely be taking family with me.

I’m going to Discover UCI!

Here is the link to the event in case anyone hasn’t seen it

Hey all! I’m still waiting for my decision… I just saw posts that are asking if people are still waiting…
