UCI Transfer 2014 decisions

Anyone not able to access the UCI MyAdmissions portal? Or is it just me? Haven;t been able to access that site for a week now.
https://services.admissions.uci.edu:8443/cgi-bin/myadmission.cgi

MyAdmissions works fine for me.

I am wondering why I was selected to compete for regents at UCLA but I haven’t heard back from any other UC I applied to, including Irvine. I have a 4.0 and I’m just curious as to how they select regents scholars.

@dopecheez I am wondering the same thing. I have only heard back from Riverside but nothing yet from Irvine, and I was selected to compete for the regents at UCLA.

what is Regents?! is it some kind of a scholarship?

It’s a prestigious merit-based scholarship that gives recipients some financial aid regardless of need and for students with financial need it can give them a full ride. Recipients also get other benefits like guaranteed housing and parking and priority enrollment for classes.

@Loyshi first batch for UCSD tends to only go out to applicants who have a GPA over a 3.7. There are always the few exceptions. The second and third batch have a lot more range.

@SRJCEngineer check your firewall. Because when I try to access it at school, it doesn’t let me because it’s connecting to that specific port. And at home, I’m fine.

@dopecheez: thanks mate
Do students apply for it?! Or do the UCs consider every transfer students for Regents, and then decides who gets it based on GPA etc?

@transfer14ptl

Where did you hear that UCSD’s first batch only admitted 3.7+ GPA’s w/ few exceptions?

It’s just an observation he made.

I believe UCI will be posting unofficial financial aid awards this week. They added a new section to the “My Aid” page today and now I am unable to access the site. : )

@cwalkercfli21 Does that mean they are still giving out regents? lol that would be awesome.

I am almost positive they are done awarding regents : ( What I meant the My Aid section for those who have been admitted already has changed.

Darn, I got an invite from UCLA but was hoping for UCI.

@xxCapital Yeah, that’s exactly what it was. Was trying to access it at school. Thanks!

@enferrari, me too. I am in love with UCI at this stage, but UCLA is considering me. I never considered getting in there…never opened my heart to it. Should I? hhahah

@ccnube same haha. I didn’t think I would even get any reply from UCLA until they sent out rejections but hey I’m not complaining. I’ve always heard the academics are super tough there but the general consensus is that it gives a more realistic college experience. LOL idk if I want my GPA to take a hit if I get in to LA and Irvine just seems so clean and nice.

@enferrari Ya! ocnative gave me the same words about irvine. I have yet to visit. I am scared my fascination will dissipate though, lol. I was in love with ucsd until it died down after I visited, but now I am in love with uci. Hahah. For me, UCI would have the most fun courses, so I wouldn’t be feeling like I would be in jail. UCLA would have very strict coursework and UCSD I am not so sure, but it seems I would have way more courses (due to the college system). Not sure if any of this applies to anyone else though.

Have you guys thought about the off campus apartments available for UCI?
