I am a junior coming from a private school in the USA and was thinking of applying to UCL. Since my school has less than 75 students per grade, there are not many AP classes to choose from.
This year I could only take AP US History which I am taking and I will most likely get a 5 on the AP exam. Next year I am planning to take AP calc AB, AP Bio, AP spanish, and AP Physics C: mechanics. I already took my ACT and got a 31.
My question is: since AP physics is only half an AP according to UCAS that will mean I am taking 4.5 APs and not the 5 required for entry and is that ok?
Also is it ok that some of my APs are not related to the major I will apply for, which is biological sciences?
Finally, does UCL take SAT subject tests in addition to AP exams?
Thanks
The vast majority of members on this website are applying/attending universities in the US, so I don’t know how much help we can be. If anything, I would say look at the UCL website, as the majority of this information can be found under the admissions page.
As for the AP question, if they require 5, and they only count AP Physics as .5, then you have .5 AP classes to complete before applying. My suggestion is that you looking up FLVS (Florida Virtual School) and enroll in an AP course online for one semester.
If you’re in state, it’s free. If you’re out of state, it’ll be a few hundred dollars.
Here is what they say you need: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/undergraduate/degrees/biological-sciences-bsc/
Could you do AP chem instead of physics, as that’s a full AP, and one they like to see (although not mandatory)?
unfortunately my school won’t be offering AP chem for next year
