UCLA Acceptees from the OC?

lol no we are nothing like the people in the show.. its just easier to say "The OC" than orange county.. it sounds cooler too

but anyways i just got my UCLA acceptance letter in the mail WOOT WOOT

hey I don't say "The OC" - thats just not how we do it in orange county, ::expletive deleted:: :p

But I do know plenty of people that could pass as one of the characters on the show.

i didn't get my letter.

I got in as a Theatre major. I'm from the OC and I attend OCHSA (Orange County High School of the Arts).

But my home high school is Tesoro . . .

irvine, university high school

uni's mascot sucks ;)

Uni .. sucks in generally. pompous kids there.. think they the best.. cuz they got the richest school.. bah.

yes in generally...

everything that is..

tesoro hs.... 35+ acceptees

Allie, did you go to Saddleback HS?
I graduated from there in 2002

my school has about 15+ accepted..i fear some are hiding it.. or lying about getting in or out though. lot of people ****ed this year.

phwch, im so surprised tesoro is getting so many in, when its just a new school. is it outperforming nearby mission viejo? wow... good for you guys.

how many people from MVHS got in?

i think 9 people from ETHS got in (including me =) ).. thats pretty good compared to last year when only a few people got in (i think only 3 ended up going to UCLA last year)

im sorry, but richest school? we had to raise ~$15k two years ago to save our counselors, simply b/c the taxes irvine residents pay are equally distributed among all the districts, something the government requires.
e.g. Z district may pay $X and irvine residents may pay $9X, but ultimately $5X in grants is pooled to district Z and $5X is pooled to irvine. in the grand scheme of things, we dont hav enough money for counselors, staff, nor "extra" money for sports, music, performing arts. they are supported via the ridiculous donations REQUIRED by the organization. e.g. $150 fee for symphony orchestra+mandatory purchase of books
irvine schools are actually far from "rich"; currently, IUSD teachers and staff are working the contract as demonstrated by their unified "black Tuesdays", and more than quite a few of the teachers complain about the inadequacy of the funds/tax/salary distribution. this "richness" unfortunately isn't strictly allocated to UNI or the rest of the irvine schools. and fyi, schools get bonuses if they improve their APIs. unfortunately UNI's is pretty much capped and thus grants are basically limited to what the government allows to trickle down to us.

the vast majority of us who care about this kind of stuff know TROY owns us, so dont give me that superiority crap that we think we're above everyone else. just look at the most updated APIs and prestigious competition results e.g. science olympiad and science bowl; we've placed 2nd to troy every single year in county competition and never placed above them in state either (and i mentioned these 2, simply b/c there is, to a certain extent, SOME pompous asians (never more than 20-30/grade lvl) who do believe we are better than troy, but comparatively speaking, UNI asians vs TROY asians? total "dombination"; our same egotistic people are owned year after year by troy.

2004 API
Troy - Overall: 911; Asian- 965
Uni - Overall: 874; Asian - 911

troy's a total magnet school for math and science

Uni's a great school, I think it almost ranks up there with Troy... or maybe perhaps more like Peninsula (Palos Verdes).

yes, i did hear irvine schools and school district are broke. although they're pumping out new schools like crazy (northwood, woodbridge, beckman)

Newport Harbor - Newport Beach, CA. The true "OC" high school (even if on the show it seems more like Sage).

i haven't been to newport beach in a while... is it true that newport beach is packed with USC supporters?

hey CybDude, I know loads of people from newport harbor. you guys have an awesome surf team, which includes erica hosseini and mahea and all those kids that practice down in 54th street and party at dohoney's.
I think there's a lot of USC supporters in Newport because a lot of the rich kids from there end up going to USC.

Yes, in fact the creator of "The OC" got his inspiration to create the show because he went to USC and many of the people he met were rich people from Newport Beach and he often visited Newport Beach and thought it was very interesting place.
