soooo many people got in!

There are at least 35 people from my school who were accepted to UCLA. I know about 15 that were rejected. Our HS is in OC, CA.

Which high school?

What is OC, CA? I am sure you are referring to a county, or perhaps even a city. ;)

You guys watch to much TV...it's Orange County, not The OC.

It's actually funny. On the OC they make fun of themselves by watching a show called the Valley...

Well I've lived in Southern California my entire life, and up until the start of the show, I never, nor did I ever hear, Orange County refered to as the OC. However the show that they all watch, The Valley, is more correct, since people out here do indeed call it "The Valley."

Just a random observation that I made.

Good point Allena, it is indeed referred to as the Valley. As in, ewwww you live in the Valley?! ;)

I lived in Burbank for a little while...it's a nice area...very warm. I prefer to leave near Santa Monica.

If these are the type of people that are going to UCLA... I think I'll pass...

I was abbreviating... I wrote OC for Orange County, not THE OC.

btw... "it is indeed referred to as " hahaha that made me laugh really hard...

Fine by me...see ya! Or rather, WON'T see ya. ;)

Well, since we are all going around correcting pointless errors then I guess I should correct exilio as well. It's "too," not "to" in your sentence.

phwch, which high school is this?

nvm i saw tesoro on another thread

the OC sounds so much cooler and its so much easier to say than "orange county"

would you rather live in orange county or... The O.C.

but i had never heard anyone call orange county the O.C. before the show either

oh and kfc4u - i think hes talkin about tesoro

Yeah, so many people got into UCLA this year from my school (last year, only two). Only two people I know who've been applied have been rejected (out of 20 +) people.

only 3 people, including myself, got in from my school.

which schools are these? just curious

my school's garbage. it's on the central coast, and ten kids got in, whereas only 3 or 4 last year, i dont know what ucla was smoking

Not to contribute to the tangent or anything, but eh. I am.

Orange County has always been referred to as OC. OC Weekly, OC Register, etc etc etc. Only after the show did they add the word "the" in front of it, and therein lies the lameness. OC was fine; "THE" OC isn't ok.

Sorry. This always bothers me.

Moving on.

**edit- This means that the original poster used it correctly. just saying.

No one ever refers to Orange County as OC...ever.

But now that The OC is a show, people are using it like people used to use 90210.

It's a fad.

a LOT of people from my school got in too...but then again, I have an amazing class. We're a super tiny school (78 people in the senior class) Two people got into MIT a few days ago, Caltech acceptances, Georgetown early acceptances, Stanford early acceptances, Harvard deferrals, but no rejections, LOTS of UC acceptances (and a few Berkeley scholarship qualifiers,)lots of early USC acceptances, a few U Michigan, Washington and Lee, Carleton, Wellseley, NYU, SMU, Notre Dame, you name it. Our college counselor says we're the best class in years in terms of college admissions.

Don't you guys think it'd be cool to go to the big crazy world UCLA with at least one person you know or went to school w/? I don't know i think it'd be cool. The only thing i worry about is...they say they accepted 10,000+ people for a class of 4300....what if way more than 4300 decide to accept admission?

I guess UCLA will have to take way more than 4300 then... it would be unfair to some of the admits if they couldn't enroll simply because the yield rate for 2005 was higher than expected...

about 20ish people got in from my school, too. i was surprised, but, based on the acceptance letter, only ~10% of people got in if your looking at everyone who applied. fyi, i go to monta vista (near san jose).

fanta87, 20-ish people from monta vista is below average. monta vista annually sends 20-30 kids to UCLA alone, so there must've been much more that gotten in.
