I got accepted into UCLA! :slight_smile: I have a question though, I added a class to my schedule this semester due to some rearrangement of my class periods. So I ended up having to take a class as a teacher’s assistant and that class was not on my transcript when I applied. I did not drop any classes, I only added that. Do I have to report this change to UCLA? Will it affect my admission?!

TA is not a-g. You’re OK as long as you didn’t drop a class that you put on your application.

General Comments:

So. Anyone see a glaring red flag for UCLA? I thought at worst I would get wait list

@Jwen556 - You should have gotten it with those stats. Definetely. MIT saw that. Screw UCLA. Haha. They waitlisted me with 9 AP 5’s and a 2340 in my SAT 1. 3 800’s on my SAT 2. (I know not as impressive as yours) haha.

If it’s true that UCLA only accepts a certain number of applicants from the same school, that could be the problem. If this practice is actually occurring, then it’s ludicrous. Being punished for choosing the academically challenging school in your school district? Insane. I know it happens in our town.

For those that got accepted, I have a question. Under the financial information page, it says that I have a “SCHOLARSHIP RECOGNITION AWARD”. Does every freshman get this or only a select few?

@SmoothAl
It’s a grant for students from low income families:

http://www.ucla.edu/admissions/affordability

@SmoothAl where do you find the financial information page?

Okay thank you @2018dad

@fahrenheit1064 log into your portal at MyUCLA and then continue onto “View your Financial Aid Provisional Letter”

@jwenn556 - if it’s any solace, I think you were denied bc you are so strong. You are a much better fit for a school like MIT and thus not likely to attend UCLA. Schools are looking for fit and likely attendees. My daughter was accepted at UCLA and UCSD but denied at UCSB (ironically, it was her favorite of all universities). I know many other kids who have similar stories and you can find many more on CC. Don’t spend a lot of time thinking about. Be proud of your accomplishments, they really are incredible! Good luck!
