UCLA CSE (Regents+Alumni Scholarships) vs. Berkeley EECS (no regents or scholarships)

Hi everyone, I was recently admitted into UCLA for Computer Science Engineering (CSE) with the Regents Scholarship and Alumni Scholarship (which is 1k/year with the chance to get up to 5k/year). I also got into Berkeley EECS, but without Regents or any other scholarship. I personally like UCLA’s campus more, but it’s hard to ignore Berkeley’s prestige when it comes to CS and engineering. Any suggestions for making this decision would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Unless money is no issue for you, I’d go with UCLA. Cal’s additional prestige in CS/engineering isn’t necessarily going to translate into better jobs over a degree from UCLA, which is highly respected in both of those areas. Berkeley gives you easier access to the SV scene by virtue of proximity, but otherwise in undergrad may not provide other tangible benefits. Plus, it sounds like you’d prefer to be in LA anyway.

The prestige of UCLA Regents exceeds (your) presumed prestige of UCB over UCLA.
With that scholarship you will be treated like gold in UCLA (I know that since my daughter is a Regents in UCLA).
