UCLA Fall 2021 Transfers

I wrote about the whole “Why UCLA” idea and built around it. Not much has happened because… we are still in quarantine that is, but I gave a little blurb about school and tried to make them see what made me tick/what kind of person I am and what I would bring to the table. Add some character to it, vs. the UC app being general to all the UCs, I could say specific reasons why UCLA now.

I’m a mom of 3 small kids with 1 on the way, I have a lot of ECs including my CC’s honors program + put strong PIQ answers.

Feeling like it’s come down to Long Beach VS UCLA.
Long Beach is a lot closer to me but now that they announced we need to be vaccinated I’ll be online for 2021-2022. I’m pregnant and planning to breastfeed after so just not comfortable with the idea of doing it yet.

congrats! I believe that ucla also is requiring their students to be vaccinated.

Congrats on the acceptance AND the little one on the way!
From my understanding UC is also going to be requiring the vaccine for on campus instruction Fall 2021.

Once one UC and/or CSU states they will require the vaccination, all will follow suit. You have a legitimate reason and until the vaccines are all FDA approved, you should be able to get an exemption. I would follow up with all schools to confirm.

Hi Jhshoney,
Congratulations to you for your acceptance to UCLA! What’s your Total UC transferable semester units? Is it completed 82 semester units plus 12 semester units which total up of 94 semester units? Are there any AP exams and/or IB international exams included in your completed 82 units? Or those completed 82 units just consisted all your of SoCal CCC without any of AP exams and/or IB international exams?

I also applied to Viterbi, I’ll be in that thread with you. I like how we both landed exactly one UC so far.

Hi, thank you!!
idk about UCLA but for the other UCs (esp berkeley), I can see which ccc courses are UC transferrable and they tell me that all 94 units are. I took 3 units of intro to psychology in my ccc, which is obviously transferrable, but I also reported a score of 3 for the AP Psych exam. The UCs won’t take that for credit, however, because the score has to be 4-5. So no, none of my 94 units are from AP or IB exams- they’re all ccc units.

Are you some sort of genius who skipped high school?

Yes, UCLA has announced the policy already but that’s why I figured to no longer factor distance into my choice for schools since I’ll be online either way for at least this year coming up. If I got an exemption would that allow me to be on campus without the vaccine?

I would check each schools policy since it seems to be ever evolving. Sorry, I cannot be more help.

People who got waitlisted, did it say how many transfers they accepted this year?

I think like 3400

they probably offered admission to abt 5,000 hoping to fill 3,400 spots
