Hello cc members,
I recently was accepted into UCLA GATECH UTAUSTIN as EE(electrical engineering to GT AND UTAus) and as Computer Science&engineering to UCLA, money is not an issue, which school should I pick. meanwhile, im in cornell’s waitlist as well.thank you for your help.
No bad choices here. GT will give you an intense engineering experience in a very tech focused urban campus. UT and UCLA are huge state schools with lots of cultural activities and elite sports, while still having excellent engineering programs. All have lots of connections to tech companies for internships. Of the three I’d lean toward GT or UT depending on what is important to you, with UCLA #3.
I would go where you want to live for the next 4 years.
Purely academics: GeorgiaTech, UT Austin, UCLA
GT has the largest EE department, so there’s more room for specialization. UCLA is much smaller.in the EE department and has a better social life. Can you talk to the departments and try to get some sense of which offers more undergrad research opportunities? You don’t have any bad options.
Thank you so much for the information, I would love to do tons of research during my undergrad years, cause I wanna end up in some great school for my grad years
Hello, thanks for your comment, I am very interested in a thick tech atmosphere where and would like to intensively get involved, I strongly desire the atmosphere in MIT, I would try to get there for my grad school, which one is better for me in this case?
How about their reputations in industry ?
“How about their reputations in industry”
They are all very strong.
If you get a job after completing your bachelor’s, it will be easier to get a job close to the university that you are graduating from. As such, there might be a small advantage in picking a school near where you might want to end up living. However, this is only a small advantage, and it disappears if you go on to graduate school.
Don’t you need to have decided by now?
I picked UCLA over other schools, I appreciate its quality education, nice weather, the tremendous amount of activities, sports…etc. I hope it would be possible to end up being in a top research university for my grad school.
Once again appreciate everyone’s comments
