Currently, I’m torn between choosing UCLA and Scripps College (I know, they couldn’t be more different). I’m from a small, semi-private high school with only about 250 students. I’ve loved my high school experience, except I’ve always felt like I’ve wanted to feel like I was apart of something bigger. My school, and I think most small schools without strong athletics, doesn’t have a ton of school spirit and connectedness that I am hoping to find in college.
I guess my main question is, where would you go if you were me?
My biggest concerns with Scripps is the lack of networking and connections after college, and I’m worried that I will run into the small-school-no-spirit/community that plagues my own high school experience. My biggest concerns with UCLA are that I won’t gel well with a huge school and huge class sizes, and that maybe it’s better for a grad school experience. I am really drawn by the sorority aspect of UCLA however, but I also feel like Scripps is technically one big sorority considering the consortium aspects of attending Scripps.
I’ve read a lot of forums already on here addressing the same sort of situation, so I’m hoping that someone can help me based on my specific situation. Or maybe just choose one for me haha.
If anyone has any past or present experience with the greek life at UCLA, that would be helpful information too.
