Not just Chicago.
UIUC is two hours away from St Louis and Indianapolis. Theres plenty of things to do and places to see, although not in the immediate vicinity (corn fields takes that one)

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. Haha i didnt intend for any arguments to start in this thread, but I must admit, these arguments are helping me quite a bit. I m still deciding though, haha. hmm i still have about a week left to decide.

As far as I'm concerned, UIUC Engineering is the equivalent of MIT, Caltech, etc., etc. Sure, UCLA may have a better LAS program, but I think that firms on either the E.Coast or W.Coast will be more dazzled when they hear UIUC Engineering. The program is consistently in the top 5, year after year.

Also, I wouldn't worry TOO much about the location. Champaign-Urbana obviously doesn't stack up to L.A. in many ways, but it's not like many of the graduates stay on campus after graduation. Most graduates go to Chicago, and many even go to NY, CA, etc. On the other hand, since UCLA Engineering is slightly less renowned, there may be a greater chance that you get stuck in CA.

In general, I say to go where your heart tells you to go. If location is too much of a downer for you, then it's obvious that you should go to UCLA.

UIUC all the way!!!!
I'll only think about it if I get my appeal for Fall semester from Berkeley (got in EECS Spring Semester).
Plus there are nice single bed/bath apartments only around 1-3 miles away from campus that are really cheap in price but great in quality.
Overall I got to love this campus.
URBANA-CHAMPAIGN.
The founding campus of Mosaic, Youtube, AMD, etc.
I'll just continue the legacy m8s.
UIUC all the way!!!!
