ucla peer advising network

did anybody else receive a notification (ok iknow one of you others did..) about joining the peer advising network? supposdly you get some degree of priority enrollment and a lot of academic counseling. they said only 400 can join. so i just signed up and they said i was in - no process. sounds almost like a scam to me unless only select people got it. so does anyone know about it? maybe its for low SAT ACHIEVERS!?

I love how whenever something new w/ UCLA comes along, it's right here on CC XD

I got the notice too, and I was just about to post the same thing. I don't think it's low SAT achievers. Maybe it's related to AAP? Or counselor recommendations?

didn't get it

i got it. hmmm maybe it has to do with something we signed at orientation

maybe so. i just signed everything in sight at orientation. also its on your my ucla just in case you think you didnt get it...

and if you got it, are you going to sign up for it?

is this the same as the big bro/sis academic advising that they mentioned at orientation?

haha I know what you mean about signing everything too. got no idea about the big bro/sis thing

i wonder if this is the same as academics in the commons, because i wanted to sign up for that. i heard sign-ups for that was during the first week of class

we're so lost. flopsy.... kev...ucapplicant...ALLIE>...someone

I got it...and it sounds good...but for some reason I can't help but have a sneaking suspicion that something's up with this...lol

i doubt it. prof. barbee is the coordinator of this and from what i saw at orientation, he is amazing

at the bottom..where it asks u how will this prog help you...how much did u guys write?

nothing much.. maybe like 4-5 sentences

i dont tink the peer advising network has anything to do with orientation... i got it and i didnt even go yet

i signed up for the peer advising network last year during early fall quarter. highly recommend it! my mentor was awesome, always willing to help me with any of my concerns, and was even kind enough to help me through a personal problem i encountered. if you get the opportunity, definitely sign up for it.

and yes you get priority enrollment while you're part of PAN.

so it seems like everyone (at least here) got it. does that mean everybody gets it and the first 400 to sign up are in, or CCers are special?

I've never received any notifications from the Peer Advising Network, probably because I'm in the HSSEAS, not the CL&S.

Never heard about it either...

so i will have to go with they either picked a certain number, or are tkaing the first 400 who respond. i trust UCLA programs - they can't be pyramid schemes..

engineering students can advise these peer advising bastards
