<p>Maybe if you're black, you're more likely to have a lower income. If you have a lower income, that has to be weighted against lower grades.</p>
<p>Uhh no. They would already consider the income factor regardless of race prior to switching to "holistic" admissions. The justification is that blacks may have felt societal stigma from the burden of slavery and lacked the pressure to do well which thus cause them to have lower scores.</p>

<p>This year a noticably larger percentage of admitted blacks actually decided to register at UCLA. Last year 49% of admitted African Americans sent in their SIRs. This year that number rose to 56%.</p>
<p>In contrast the percentage of admitted Asians that sent in their SIRs was 41%, down from 45% in 2006.</p>
