I’ve been accepted to both UCLA and Berkeley. UCLA was my #1 because I thought that there was absolutely no way I’d get into Berkeley, but now that I have, I’m torn. I know that tons of people make this hard decision between the two every year, so if you’re someone who has chosen between the two, please tell me which you chose, why you did, and why or why not you think you made the right choice. I want to major in business and although i know that Haas is clearly the better choice for business based on rankings, I’m worried that if I do horribly my freshman year, I won’t get in. Did anyone go through the Haas application process? Are you guarenteed a spot if you applied Pre-Business and have a certain GPA?
Okay this post is exactly what I am thinking and feeling right now too. Someone please help us.
Well, UCLA does not have a business major, although it has business economics, which requires meeting grade and GPA requirements to enter (see http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/bizecon.cfm ). Berkeley’s business major is competitive admission (see http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/ucb_admissions.html ).
