I realize I'm going to be getting biased replies, but I'm looking for subjectivity here. I was accepted into both, and since academics are basically equal, I have no idea what to do. UMich I got into Honors so I'd be in South Quad, which is A LOT better than UCLA's residence halls. But I'm from Florida and not used to cold winters at all. I've been to both campuses, and both seem nice.

What are people like at UCLA? I've heard people can be stuck up, and friend groups are often based on race. What are the numbers of Indians like? Anything subjective you can tell me about your own experiences (at either school), mostly to do with people and atmosphere? I'm so stuck.

Not sure how nice Michigan’s dorms are but the dorms here are extremely nice and the food is amazing. Every time I visit another school I am reminded of these two facts, but especially the food. However triples can be very cramped.

Friend groups are only based on race if you want them to be. Personally my friend groups are very racially and socially diverse, but I know people who are only friends with people of their own race too. Overall people are not very stuck up at all, though I guess this depends on your choice of friends as well. I personally think most people I have met here are extremely kind and friendly and most importantly happy, which is why I decided to come to UCLA. Of course this all depends on finding your right group of friends and how social you are.
