UCLA Worth the Out-of-State Costs?

Hello, I have just received word that I have been accepted into UCLA. My family is in no way financially stable, so UCLA has offered my a substantial amount of aid (grants, scholarships, work-study programs). However, of the total cost of UCLA for out of state students, I am short $23,898.

I was wondering if this amount is worth the "UCLA experience."

Notes to help:
I am a biochemistry/psychology major intending to apply to medical school. I live in New Orleans, La and will go to Tulane University (only have to pay $13,000) if UCLA does not work out. I have also gotten into Emory University but was expected to pay nearly $35,000 so I am not likely to go there.

Any advice will help, Thanks.

i’d probably just go to Tulane. That additional cost is really hard to justify, especially if your family can’t afford it.

Not worth it. The UC financial position is uncertain, and it’s a safe bet it’ll be more expensive for OOS students in the years to come. You want to be a doctor…save your borrowing for med school.
