UConn Honors or UMass Amherst for biology/premed? Difficult to get into UMass Honors College?

Hey everyone! So recently I was accepted in the UConn Honors program and the UMass Amherst college of natural sciences, and I’ve been having some difficulty deciding between the two. I was accepted as a biological science major into both schools, but I’m also interested in exploring other sciences like physiology, psychology, conservation/natural resources, food science or maybe environmental science. Another factor is that I may want to go to Med School eventually, and since I’m a Massachusetts resident, it may be beneficial to attend UMass Amherst so I could get into the UMass Med school. In addition, I’ve received financial aid from UConn so the prices are about equal. I found the UConn honors program to be quite advantageous, but I just visited UMass and found the campus and the feel to be incredibly suitable (I loved the rec center and food far more than that of UConn in addition to just liking the kind of people there). I’d also like to attend a university where taking classes outside one’s major is accepted and easy to do frequently.

So basically I would like some guidance. What would you all do in this situation? Also, would it be hard to get into the UMass honors college once there? I really appreciate any insight during this critical decision time:)

You can apply for the honors college at UMass after your first semester. Keep your grades up, write and good essay, and you should be fine.
