UCONN Recs and Essay Advice.

Hello, while applying for the University of Conneticut they said that you should have two Letters of Reccomendation. EXCEPT that there was no Reccomendation question for the Teachers. Like there is no place to ask "how did this student demonstrate blaa blaaa blaaa?" I'm guessing that is common but I am not sure.

So I'm thinking of just asking the teacher to describe how I like participated in class and was interrested in the Subject Matter ETC... and I was a good student. My thing is that I don't really do Very Many Extra Curriculars AT ALL. Like none that are really important to me. So do you think just a Reccomendation about how I am a good student will be sufficient. I mean I have a 1270 SAT which is pretty good for my school, so yeah. OK Well I'm just kind of uncertain of how to ask for the REC. And I guess I'll just ask them something like "Could you write about how I was a good student, participated and was an asset to the class or whatever.???" Do you think that that will fill like 2 paragraphs just on how I had good grades and whatever. I'm just a little nervous about asking, I'm thinking there is a topic about this but could you just give any advice or what not.

ALSO. I'm also kind of stumped on my ESSAY's I'm trying to figure out what I will write about. As I said before I don't have hardly any EC's. Only Basketball and that's about It. Soooo I'm wondering if writing about the Trip I took to Paris and Switzerland WHEN I was in 8th Grade and explaining how is gave me like a broader view of the World etc.... And If I made it interesting. Would that be a sufficient ESSAY even if it was like 5 years ago.

and I would also REALLY appreciate if you think Writing about listening to Talk Radio would be a good risk to take in writing my essay. I mean I don't really know any other Kids who actually do that, like listen to Michael Savage OR CoastTo-Coast AM. so I was thinking..

If I start out describing how cool it is to hear Sci-Fi Stories while lying awake in Bed at like 2 AM.,, THEN I say something like Radio is a lost form of Entertainment and explain how it is so Under-Ratted and how it is the purest form of intellectual debate and other stuff like that..

Well, That was my idea at first but I'm kind of torn weather to write about that or my trip to Europe. I know I can make each essay pretty interesting and I've been told I am a good writer. So I'm just asking wiether or not you think it even matters what I write about as long as it is a Good Essay. AND which topic do you think I should Choose. AND Also Any advice on the Reccomendation. Thank You for your help. I'm kind of getting close to Crunch Time and I've only applied to One School. and I'm hoping to apply to at least 3 or 4 More.

uconn letters of reccs are optional. says right on the website

So you don't think I should get one?

OK let's say I do want one though. how am I supposed ask a person if there is no definate question being asked. I'm not getting it.

Virginia Tech also doesn't have a definate question. They just say 2 letters of rec are optional but could be helpful. They don't give any crap on what they want in the letter of reccomendation.

Ask two instructors you trust, and in whose classes you did well, to tell how you performed in their classes. Be mindful that if you send more than two recommendations, UConn will pick two recommendations at random and discard the rest.
