***UCR Class of 2021 DECISIONS ONLY Thread***

Current UCR student here. I would like to just say that UCR has recently been adopting new systems and replacing the old ones. This has led to MANY problems for us too. Some include not being able to register for a class or the new system, called Banner, thinking we already took a class when we didn’t. I don’t know if the admissions process uses Banner but it would sure explain a lot.

@UCNerdx10 - I heard about this yesterday, that UCR has had other problems this academic year because of the change to the new system. Apparently other UCs are making the change a bit at a time, but UCR tried to do it all at once and I guess it has not been smooth.

I have to say I feel bad for all involved – the applicants who have gotten stressed/received conflicting or no messages and UCR for having its admissions notification process messed up. At this point I think everyone just has to wait until 1) My UCR goes back up and works correctly OR 2) They send out snail-mail letters. Meanwhile, it might be good for the admissions office to provide an update, even if it is that they are still working on it.

For myself with 30 years of tech experience no Big Bang implementation is CS 101! UCR was very brave, hope they had a good reason for doing so… sigh!

Maybe if they would post relevant messages on twitter instead of dumb quotes, UCR wouldn’t be such a laughable school.

Apparently sat scores doesn’t factor into the admission decisions…

@Phampham Really? Do you know what factors into the admissions process then? What did the admissions office tell you?

@Phampham I disagree with you. This is taken directly off of their admissions page: “You must take either the ACT with Writing, the SAT or the SAT with Essay by December of your senior year.”

@PHampham: For all UC’s if you check the common dataset, SAT/ACT scores are considered very important.

Yeah I don’t why know the UC application would ask for ACT scores if they didn’t consider them.

FYI, U.S. News recently came out with their 2017 overall global ranking and by subjects (Engineering, Business, Science etc…). As of now, UCR Engineering is ranked higher than UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Cruz. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted so far into UCR Bourne College of Engineering.
