***UCR CLASS OF 2021 DISCUSSION THREAD***

@CoastalKid same

@CoastalKid @Jordan673 same

@ccll23 @jordan673 Thanks for that, made me feel better to not be alone. UCSC was my top lol. Did either of you hear back from UCR yet?

@ccll23 @CoastalKid which UC is the closest to you?

Do any of you have other acceptances yet, like maybe from some CSUā€™s or OOSā€™s? Just feelinā€™ for ya here.

portal down again rip ucr lol

@Jordan673 Im out of state (NJ). I have family in SoCal tho. I applied to UCSC and UCR and then a few cal states, pepperdine and USFCA. Just nervous because I also got rejected from the better CSUā€™s but I got into Purdue. So, Id probably have to pick Purdue over the lower tier csuā€™s

You?

@jesseā€™sgirl my only oos acceptance that Id consider is Purdue. Other than that, Im waiting on UCR and USFCA (obj not getting into Pepp, but applied bc zoey 101 lol)

@CoastalKid I applied to UCR, UCSC, and UCD. Rejected by UCSC (obviously) and UCD. Waiting on UCR. Applied to Cal Poly Pomona. Still waiting for a decision from them. Also applied to Cal State SB. Accepted. Applied to San Diego State. Rejected. Cal State MB. Accepted. If I donā€™t get into UCR or Poly Pomona then Iā€™ll just end up attending CSUSB. I am an in state student. Biochem/Bio major

@Jordan673 Weā€™re pretty similar! Im a biochem/bio major, however I was also rejected from SDSU, CSULB, and CSUF. Hoping for UCR and USFCA, if not Iā€™ll have to decide if location is more important than academic quality and pick between SJSU/Chico and Purdue. Any advice being instate?

@CoastalKid SJSU is not a bad school! I personally like SJ so you might like it too

@CoastalKid Hmmmm. Not sure what advice I could give reallyā€¦I looked into the schools but I donā€™t know much about them to give advice on what to pick from. Though, you are welcome to ask me questions about being an instate student. Iā€™ll gladly answer them. Or any question really.

@Shaybaby Do you know of Purdue University? Im not sure on what to do. I think Purdue would be the better academically, but CA has been my dream for probably a decade. Do you think SJSU matches up?

@CoastalKid Iā€™m a San Jose local and SJSU is honestly not a bad school. They are more known for engineering & business though. But Iā€™m pretty sure their science department wonā€™t be bad either. Academic wise, Iā€™d say itā€™s pretty good. Location, itā€™s a little ghetto. Itā€™s located downtown so busy cars, homeless people, etc. The city itself, itā€™s nice. Iā€™ve lived in San Jose all my life though so I donā€™t plan on going to SJSU but I think youā€™d like it. SF is 45min away so you can go to SF every now and then if you ever wana explore. Thereā€™s a lot of Asians (especially Vietnamese) in SJ so if you ever want Viet food, thereā€™s plenty of good places to visit. Thereā€™s also other food places you can go to. Let me know if you want more information on San Jose. Iā€™d be happy to help you!

Anyone interested in Scholarships, here is the link: https://advancementservices.ucr.edu/Scholarship/FundList.aspx?ss=ProspectiveIncomingTransferstudents

UCR tends to be fairly generous with their scholarships, especially for high stat applicants.

They offer Regents/Chancellors and Highlander Excellence scholarships for in-coming Freshman. There are also departmental scholarships available. Some of the departmental scholarships are automatic based on academic record and some require an additional application.

Anyone able to log on?

nope, it just freezes

Still not able to log in yet either, mine never finished loading

Itā€™s down again. Can someone call them to ask what happen?
