***UCR TRANSFER DECISIONS/DISCUSSION 2018***

Is anyone here nervous for Orientation? Can’t believe the transfer Orientation is already net week!!! Hopefully we get the classes we need and good ones too of course.

@poisonheart I am super duper nervous! September 4th needs to hurry up, I want to buy some sweaters for this fall. Also, I need to pick up my parking permit and school ID. lol

If anyone is showing up on the 4th, we should meet up!!!

@Piktuto Ahhh I just want the day to come since i’m SUPER anxious! I don’t know what to expect haha.
same!!! I need to stock up on cute fall clothing! I need new sweaters as well!

I heard the parking gets so bad! Not looking forward to that when I drive there…for now though I think i will be getting dropped off.

I have orientation the 5th!! Wish I had the 4th to meet up with u guys!!

@poisonheart Well my day has come. ill let you know tomorrow how it went. I wish we could see each other. Maybe on the first day of school we can get ice cream by that one food truck with cows spots all over

@Piktuto Good luck!!! I hope it goes great!! Can’t wait to hear how it goes! Awww yeah I wish too!! I definitely need gal pals for when I start school! My other friends transferred to other schools lol…but yes sounds like a plan! Lol it will probably still be hot on the first day of school so Ice cream would be great! :-j

So I just enrolled and my account says I need to pay like 5.5K. But I have financial aid and it covers all my tuition in the award. Is this notice gonna go away? Or what

@poisonheart tell me how your day went. I heard some people had trouble picking classes. I was able to obtain all of my classes (12 units total). Everyone was super duper nice.

@biochembbs9 If the minimum amount states $0.00 then you do not have to worry because financial aid will cover it. But if the minimum states the 5.5k go contact the aid office.

@piktuto it changed now it says 2.5k for minimum and the amount due. When I click on current activity under estimated aid my pell grant and ucr grant covered the remaining from the 5.5k but my cal grant isn’t there yet. Could it be because it hasn’t been processed for me yet? Because I was awarded another 3k from the cal grant. It just doesn’t show up on this page

@Piktuto My day went good! It was so tiring to be there all day though. I’m happy i got to register for 12 units as well!. i am also glad I managed to make my schedule M, W , F! I did see some people struggling with what classes to pick. Anyway my classes aren’t exactly in the subjects I wanted (although i did get one major course yay!) but i’m just happy I’ll be full time and Its a relief to hear that we get priority for Winter quarter lol.

@biochembbs9 I say wait a day or 2 and see if that changes. If it doesn’t and you’re still concerned contact financial aid. Maybe go in person because sometimes its a pain to be on hold for financial aid for a long time.

So I was going to pay my tuition and fees but it says I have no bills? With both total account balance and current minimum due at 0.00. I’m confused because I enrolled in 13 units at the 9/5 orientation so it should have something there. Maybe it takes some time to process?

@metafisicas mine automatically showed up as soon as I enrolled. Btw my orientation is tomorrow. Do you actually stay until 5 pm?

The orientation actually does last pretty much all day. You can download the UCR guides app to see the official schedule for your orientation day and there you can see what time everything is at. Towards the end of the day is when you get to meet with the academic advisors to register for classes. After you register you are free to leave, but there is a closing ceremony and you get a UCR lanyard and a pin. Some people left after they registered and some stayed. You might as well stay if you have been there most of the day! haha. In the closing ceremony they showed a little video of the pictures they took throughout the day and footage. It was quite nice lol

Good luck at orientation!

@biochembbs9 Just like poisonheart said give it a few days and if by Monday there is no change, please contact the Financial Aid Office. I hope everything will be resolved before the due date. You do not need to stay there all day, some people left as soon as they registered for classes. I stayed till the very end, I had so much fun with the people I was hanging out with…I really did not want to go home. Lol!

@poisonheart OMG! I also have classes on M,W,F! I am so glad your orientation went well. I was not a big fan on the advisers, I felt they were just there to add on more stress.
I cannot wait to meet you someday

@metafisicas Give it until Monday, if not go call The Financial Aid Office.

@Piktuto Nice!! I think we got pretty good schedules! I’m happy I don’t have to go EVERY day! If i wasn’t commuting I wouldn’t mind…but since I am going to commute I wanted to try to go for a schedule like this

I liked the advisors for my department! (Sociology) they were really nice and helpful…Hopefully your advisors become less intimidating as time goes on because college students definitely don’t need more stress added! >_<

me too!! Since we have classes on the same days it’ll probably be easy to meet up sometime!~

@poisonheart I am going to send you a direct message

@biochembbs9 @Piktuto I checked “Current Activity” (under the Your Account box on the Student Account Online page, which is the same place it says I have $0.00 for “Total Account Balance” and “Current Minimum Due”) and it has a full list of tuition and fees charged on 9/4 (the day of my orientation, just realized I wrote the wrong date on my other post, I actually went on Tuesday, not Wednesday), so it does seem to have processed the fact that I registered.

On the Current Activity page itself, it also has a “Current Balance” of $5,507.46 (the total tuition and fees) and another “Minimum Due” of $0.00. Below that it says that the “Minimum Due” is just the balance reduced by the current Estimated Aid, which makes sense since my current aid exceeds my total charges. So it seems the payment process is automatic? Because if so then that would explain the Total Account Balance being 0.00 since everything would be paid off already (assuming total account balance = total charges - total aid/payments).

I apologize if any of this sounds confusing (it seems every time I get confused about something, people get confused about what it is I’m confused by, so I’m just trying to be as specific as possible here), but I don’t recall the payment process being covered at orientation. I remember them talking about some related things but I think I must’ve zoned out otherwise (I was on 3 hours of sleep and had a long commute so I was tired af to say the least).

@metafisicas Do not apologize D: this is why we are here to support each other!
So yes, you have nothing to worry about because your aid is covered and paid for. Now you just have to keep on the look out for that disbursement (this should be on the 27 or 29 of September)

I also went on Tuesday for orientation!! Damn, I wish we could have met lol

@Piktuto So it really is automatic? That feels so weird to me since at my CC we had to pay manually after disbursement. It feels kind of wrong to not have to do anything (as someone prone to paranoia lol) but I’ll trust it. I searched around online and that seems to be correct, so thank you  I needed the help, I really don’t remember this being covered at orientation.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw each other haha, there were less people there than I expected there to be. Like when we went to UNLH for all the presentations I don’t think all the seats were even filled up? With seemingly only a few hundred people there I had to have seen at least one person from here (unknowingly), cuz I remember a lot of us signing up for the first orientation session earlier in the thread.

@metafisicas That is interesting, at my CC the school took care of everything.

Orientation was all over the place regarding aid.

I had a lot of fun eating lunch with other majors. I was hoping to meet many of you but i only met two people from here haha

@metafisicas i was also worried if i had to do anything to have my tuition paid. In my community college I didn’t get Fafsa so i didn’t know what to do here. Its a relief it pays automatically!!
