UCs Consider Charging More for Popular Campuses

^ This is uncalled for. Most of parents already pay enough high tuition and cannot afford to pay more.

I saw a message from the chancellor of UCSD saying that the state only funded about 10% of their costs. The rest comes from tuition, federal grants and private donors.

I think SD’s chancellor is referring to the operating budget. True, all the UC’s have miniscule portions of their budgets funded by the state. But if we’re talking about state-supplemented tuition for residents, it’s still funded ~ 2/3 by CA.

Let’s jump of track here…anyone see the Chancellor of UC Riverside on “Undercover Boss”??? Interesting…on that show the nice bosses always give the unsuspecting nice employees a prize…ie. a vacation or some cash for their dreams.
I was wondering just how he was going to “gift” the students and teachers he had on the show. “Donors”, was the source of the prizes.
I figured the UC budgets did not have a line item for “prizes” for nice people!!!

I really like UCR’s Chancellor White. I don’t know much about his background, but he seems like some who cares deeply. I’m sure some chancellors can seem standoffish, but he seems highly approachable. I hope he can pull the U up significantly.
