Hi all!
What are my chances for getting into
UCLA
Berkeley
UCSD
Irvine
UCSC
UCSB
Davis
Cal Poly SLO
CSU Long Beach
USC
Cornell University
Pomona College
Pitzer College
Claremont McKenna
Chapman University
I have a 34 ACT, 4.06 weighted GPA (so not very stellar), chinese american, female, from california.
Some of my extracurriculars include varsity cross country and track, piano, and writing for a local chinese magazine.
I haven’t won any amazing competitions or anything and my main extracurricular would be my athletics (I went to state for cross country) but I don’t think I’m good enough to make a difference.
I did write about an “unusual circumstance” because I developed anorexia during sophomore year which really screwed up my academics and grades.
I’m applying to Psychology or Nutrition for all of the schools.
Please be as brutally honest as you need!
how many A’s and B’s? Whats the unweighted? Whats your UC Fully Weighted and Unweighted?
4.06 doesn’t tell much.
sorry, here’s some more info!
I think my UC weighted is 4.22, UC unweighted is 3.52, and UC weighted and capped is 3.81 though I don’t really know what that means, I just used the roger hub calculator.
My total unweighted GPA is 3.63.
Since 9th grade, I’ve had 18 B’s, 26 A’s, and I’m only counting the UC approved courses. That includes 21 semesters of weighted courses (AP’s and 1 weighted honors class). However if you take out 9th grade, then that would be 15 A’s, 14 B’s, and 19 semesters of weighted courses.
I think you’d have a good chance for CSU and UC, but it all comes down to the personal statements. Also, it also depends on how many challenging classes you’ve taken too. Cornell and Pomona College ain’t going to be easy.
Off topic, but as a former anorexic myself, I think it would be wise to avoid Nutrition as a major. Just fuels the obsession, IMO.
