UCSB Honors College Vs. USC

I recently found out that I was admitted to both, and am unsure as of which I would like to attend. I am leaning towards SB, largely because of the honors program. However, I also love SB's location and lifestyle. The reason I am contemplating USC is that I plan on living in SoCal, and the "Trojan Network" dominates here. Also, I believe that SC would be a sick school in terms of "the true college experience". Any thoughts would be appreciated!

What’s the COA looking like for both? If you’re in-state, I’d say UCSB. If OOS and they’ll both be about the same, I’d pick USC.

thank you! I am in state, so SB would cost a little over $20,000 a year, and SC would cost a little over $50,000

I would go to UCSB, that is a HUGE financial difference. Plus in the honors college you will get preferential treatment as long as you keep your grades up. UCSB provides a great college experience minus the football team haha. Plus Santa Barbara wins out over South Central LA.

Thank you! I very much agree, especially with the last sentence of your response.

USC has a wonderful Honors program called Thematic Option. It is selective, but there is still time to apply if you are interested [Thematic Option](http://www.usc.edu/dept/LAS/general_studies/TO/ie.html) . If you have applied for financial aid, you might want to wait to make your final decision until you have all the information. USC’s financial aid package made attending there more affordable for our family than UCB or UCLA (in-state CA).

Congratulations on your acceptances - you can’t go wrong with those great choices!
