I was curious as to which Electrical Engineering's program is better. I got into both for EE, and am interested in that aspect of it. I know enough about the other aspects of the schools, such as the social aspects and location, so I am purely interested in the program itself.

UCSB's pretty much better at Engineering.

I'm going to say this is not a very important aspect of your decision unless you already know one of the schools has a specialty in an area of EE you are interested in and the other doesn't. At 2 UC campuses such as this pair things are as close to twins as you can get for most classes; even the course numbers are the same! The outcome of your education between these 2 schools isn't going to depend on which is "better" (and we can argue for days on what "better" means); its going to depend on you doing the work to master the material.

The bigger difference in your life is going to be the atmosphere -- type of kids that enroll, the living situation, etc. The 2 choices are quite different. Pick the one that appeals to you better. And I say that as a big UCSB fan.

UCSB EE = really good..it's like rank 20 in the usnews2008 rankigns...and ucsb has a way better social atmosphere

UCI EE is like rank 4X (48 last year) in the USnews rankings..social life not so good...

UCSB ..you will kill two birds with one stone (good EE program + social life)

UCI you will miss two birds with one stone =o
