if you're planning to go to dental school anyways, why would your undergrad reputation matter?

college already: I think that you should go to UCSB. Haha mainly because I just chose it over UCI and had similar concerns as yours. There a lot of different kinds of people at both schools. And PLENTY of snotty rich girls in the oc too...I talked to a lot of students at my visit at Ucsb and met a lot of really cool down to earth people :)

What do you guys think I should do? I really cannot decide. Does anyone know how the bio department is at UCSB as I could not find any information about it on the 14th. Do you really think that the party school reputation will hurt me in the long run?

What do I think you should do? Get on the phone, call dental school admissions at ucla and usc. Ask them your question about whether the school rep is going to hurt you.

seems like alot of people are deciding between these two. ive been trying to decide between them too but they both seem very qualified. ive gotten a better feel for uci since ive went to both the open house and the stay over thing. but ucsb has a richer social aspect to it and plus its on beachfront property. they both cater well to my intended major so its really up to the rest that im deciding on.

MIkemac, I just did what you said and they told me that what school you come from really doesn't matter. The usc school of dentistry rep said "we don't really look at the school you come from." So... I just sent in my SIR to UCSB :) Thanks everyone.

Di_Nate, glad to hear. Both schools are good choices, so you couldn't have gone wrong with either one. I hope you have a great time at ucsb! (study hard, too)

Im in the exact same situation as you! i am Chinese myself so i am actually quite put off by the fact that i will be just another Chinese person at UCI. However, coming from Hong Kong, I'm not sure if i will feel at home at UCSB, which has a significantly lower Asian population.

Anyone know how the dorms compare? how the food compares? how the class sizes and dynamics compare?

If you're xenophobic and know that you won't feel at home at UCSB, then go to UCI.

i'm going to santa barbara baby!!

so i have one day to figure out between uci and ucsb :[. anyone know much about the poli sci programs at both the schools and the pre-law advisory programs? thanks.

How does the Business Economics program compare at both colleges? Also, which environment is more conducive to transferring in? I visited UCSB this past weekend, and I really enjoyed it. Loved the campus, the people, the beach, really beautiful place. I'm still planning to check out Irvine in a week or so though.
