<p>bl0wnidea: Can’t speak for the other schools, but my experience with engineering at UCSC has been very good. A lot of big name companies recruit on campus, and there are many research opportunities. Not only can you work under grad students, but you can petition for your own project and receive funding from the school. Classes are good, and the engineering department is super organized. They have classes planned out a year ahead so it’s easy to make my 4-year plan.</p>

<p>how do you find out which major you get in?
I logged on the portal site, I only saw I am admitted. However, it does not say which major I am in.</p>

<p>On my web portal, there is a link that says “update major”. At the top of that page, it says “Current Major” and lists what you said on your application. From this, I would assume whatever you put as your major you were accepted under, but I could be wrong, as people put 1st and 2nd choice majors. But I would look there for starters if I were you.</p>
