UCSC Fall 2021 Transfer Thread

No I tried calling where I applied and the first one I called was Irvine and after pulling up my application he told me it was them who requested it.

School: Another UC
Major: Psych
GPA: 3.9
TAG: No

Accepted about a week ago

What Uc?

Anyone get any acceptance letters today? This wait is brutal.

School: CCC
Major: Math
GPA: 3.5
TAG: No

I got an email from UCSC asking for 1. explanation for gap semester and 2. syllabi for previous math classes taken on Feb 9. Also haven’t heard back since then.

A syllabi? Dafuq? That’s odd. I throw mine mid semester. Why would they ask for such thing?

It’s to confirm transfer credit for the calculus series (a prereq for transferring in to the math major) which I did not take at a California school. They look over the curriculum of the course via the syllabi to confirm that the course is indeed a transferable equivalent to their calculus series. I’ve also had other schools that I’ve already gotten acceptances to request syllabi for the same reason. I want to think this is a good omen but I am scared of getting my hopes up since this is my top choice. :L

Ah, ic. It’s funny, I had reasonable expectations for all the schools I applied to, but UCSC is the one school I had some semblance of confidence. Now I don’t know anymore, which doesn’t bode well for the rest of the UCs.

We still have TAG people waiting right? They’re our security blanket haha.

I just can’t get over how UCSC will send out admissions emails for one day and leave the rest of us holding our breath… Like they must enjoy this type of torture lol

I think UCSC, along with other bottom to mid tier UCs like riverside and Santa Barbara, have the arduous task of admitting not necessarily the most qualified, but the best fit for their schools, that’s why it’s taking so long. Their primary job is keeping their yield rate up while maintaining a degree of academic standards. The cals and UCLA’s don’t have to worry about yield rate because they know students will most likely accept, so they can accept almost entirely based on merit. All they have to worry about is racial diversity. UCSC especially strikes me as the one school that desperately wants to be in the Irvine-San Diego tier, so they’re really nitpicking. Especially for transfers. It must be a slap to the face to he rejected by transfers haha.

Has anyone who has gotten an acceptance not gotten the financial aid email? I know a few people did but I haven’t so wanted to see if others haven’t gotten it as well

Does anyone know if rejections are rolling as well, or do they come out at the very end (late April?). Wondering if anyone knows based on previous years.

Critical Question.
I was wondering about it too

I’m not 100% sure but I was looking at the Fall 2019 transfer thread. It seems as though everything was mixed. There were acceptances going through April and they were some waitlists and rejections coming out at the same time too. Hard to tell because not everyone posts on these forums but with that info it seems as though they are rolling as well.

i’m pretty certain there are still many acceptances to come. threads from previous years show multiple waves of acceptances to UCSC and there are TAG students that still haven’t heard. the college admissions process is such a mystery sometimes.

Anyone hear back today?

Nothing, still the same message about receiving my application

does anyone think that people who applied TAG will hear back before april ?
