UCSC or Pitt?

So I was pretty set on going to Pitt but UCSC emailed me just now that since I was waitlisted at Berkeley I have the option to enroll there instead. Now I have 6 days to decide. SOS.

I’m from NY and want to major in neuro (pre med). I was leaning towards Pitt because of how amazing their med school is and also I would be in the honors college. However, I wanted college as a way to experience more, and I feel like staying in the east coast and spending the whole school year in a city plus the summers back home in NYC will limit that. UCSC’s campus seems beautiful and would definitely allow me to experience a new environment!

Costs look like they will be relatively the same (Pitt gave me a good fin aid package but the ucsc office said I’m eligible for a scholarship that will make my tuition more like in state). Also I have no interest in Greek life. I haven’t visited either and will not be able to before deciding ://

No SUNY or other less expensive options?

I didn’t apply to any SUNY because I didn’t want to stay in NY. These are my only options right now. Besides the 4932 schools that waitlisted me but ya know

What kind of scholarship is UCSC talking about? California public universities are very stingy when it comes to any kind of out-of-state aid.

The UCSC campus always felt like an Ewok village or summer camp to me. I don’t like it, although other people love it.

Up to 40k, and I’m above their 75th percentile for scores and stuff so hopefully it’s closer to the 40k end lol. I’m trying to make a decision right now without looking at costs and I’m clueless
