I just applied to UCSD and I’m trying to figure out my chances for admission. I’ve only had the opportunity to take two APs and 4 HL/2 SL IBs (full diploma) to go along with a high 1400 SAT, 3.92 UW and 4.43 W GPA and a fair amount of sports and religiously based extracurriculars. I think my personal statements were alright, but not overly amazing. I don’t feel like asking the community about my chances of getting in would ease my nerves completely, but I’ve got a lot riding on this. Does it seem likely that I’ll get accepted?
UC capped weighted GPA? Intended major?
Are you OOS full pay? International?
My UC GPAs are a little different than my North Carolina GPAs. According to the calculators I have a 3.88 unweighted and a 4.81 weighted GPA (capped at 4). Like I just mentioned… I’m from North Carolina but I would be considered out of state full pay. My intended major is either statistics or international studies.
OOS full pay will help you.
UC Freshman admit rates based on UC capped weighted GPA for 3.8-4.19 at UCSD was 38.7%. Your SAT score is within range but below the 50th percentile.
Since you are OOS and full pay, I would say UCSD would be 50/50. High match.
Best of luck.
It’s pretty late, but I’d say you have a good chance of being accepted. I also did IB with 3 HLs and 3 SLs and got the diploma. My UW was 4.00 and W was 4.79 (but my UC calculated GPA was ~4.32). My SAT was mediocre (I’m a slow reader :P), so you’ve even got that one-up on me. I did sports and extra curriculars. Had decent essays, and I’d also say mine weren’t the best. Thought I’d go to school OOS so I didn’t care much for them. Still got in. You definitely have a good chance I’d say. It can also vary with your demographics as well as whether or not you’re first gen.
