So it can’t hurt to write one, correct?

The appeal and the wait list are considered completely separately so you have nothing to lose by appealing. You could still be accepted from the wait list even if your appeal were denied.

I sent in my waitlist first, and then my appeal a few weeks later. After that, my portal had the “you sent in your appeal” message, but after checking this evening it changed to the “You have reserved your place on the waitlist” message. Does that mean my appeal was rejected?

@happilee, My son’s portal did the same thing and about a day later, received an email saying his appeal was rejected but he was still on the waitlist.

i sent in my appeal first couple days ago and then my waitlist today but the portal message talks about my sent appeal and nothing about the waitlist. I don’t know if I successfully reserved my spot or not. When I go back to the Opt-in form, it looks like I never submitted my essay. So should I try submitting again?

Well i submitted my waitlist first. THen sent an appeal. But it only shows the appeal info. So i think you’re fine cuz they make appeal decisions first i believe

@uvminhcire if you go back to the opt in form, does it look like you can submit it again?

idk how to get there haha

Did anyone who was rejected the first time appeal and then get onto the wait list today 21st April 2014, also i submitted my appeal April 15th 2014?

Is appeal allowed just once?

My daughter have been waitlisted by UCSD; she, sometime after accepting her spot on the wait list, got some new reward and, having now formally an excuse for appealing, notified UCSD admissions about it. Yesterday she found out she has more impressive achievement, but it looks like she can’t appeal more than once - or, at least, she doesn’t see how its done looking at her UCSD portal. Is there any way to notify UCSD about any newly earned achievements/rewards before the waitlist-opening date? Could she just e-mail admissions? Would it be of any use?

Not likely. If she appealed once before and was denied, and you have “new and extremely compelling reasons that relate to the original appeal and denial” (check their criteria list) you can pick up the phone and call admissions. Obviously you cannot use the portal web form and emails won’t work.

But she was not denied. The reply on her portal says that they are likely to answer around May 1.

Anyone hear back yet? Anyone get in?

My daughter (waitlisted and appealed) is accepted today!

^ Did she get accepted through the wait list or through the appeal?

@myau when did your daughter send her appeal?

So does anyone know if appeal decisions will be made before May 1st like the website says?

I just happened to check my UCSD portal right now and my appeal got rejected. But I wasn’t hoping for much, I just appealed to all the UC’s that rejected me since it can’t really hurt me anyways haha. Good luck to everyone else!

when did you send yours?

the appeal deadline is may 15 not may 1st
